I do not blindly follow anyone. It is clear to me the proposal in 1989 is really not much different than what was inacted

PS ..... if many in your party don't start thinking and doing for yourselves you will be doing forced labor that you don't like. You will be destitute and not know what to do. I don't know what it takes to convince people that they are in danger, but this Administration is trouble, not IN trouble, but IS trouble. The people who look and think KNOW that, but we cannot convince the democrats, or at least most of them. This is not a party vs party thing, this is a coup thing, overtaking our nation, ALL OF US. And frankly, if you thought about it, you would KNOW that and help us try to convince other worthwhile people.

It is not one party or the other Tasine. They both suck the only difference I have seen over the last 40 years, and I was Republican, is that Republicans get people to vote by "claiming" to be conservative while in reality being bigger spenders then the Democrats. Since Reagan took office the only thing they know is lower taxes which wins votes because everybody hates taxes but does nothing for the Deficit they claim to be so concerned about. We were on an economic upswing when Reagan lowered the top rate to 28% trying to insure a win for Bush , it worked but then facing a growing deficit Bush had to raise taxes and cost himself a second term.

The scare tactics you try at the end of your post I fear are more likely with republicans in charge.

The lies that you hope to spread are far worse than any "scare tactics" you accuse me of. Listen, and listen well if you are not partisan. Lowering taxes has HISTORICALLY resulted in a healthier economy. It is what is done with the money that makes or breaks us. It is overstepping the budget for illegitimate expenditures that is killing our economy, in addition to all the excessive, unnecessary laws and regulations that businesses must attend to, thanks to our SUPER SIZED government. When a stupid House will not even TRY to stay within spending limits, it puts debt on the clock. The fault lies with Congress, yet Bush should have NOT raised taxes. He should have gone to the public - we would have supported him in vetoing the House's budget.

Of course raising taxes hurt Bush, Sr. It is truly against all the people he relied on to help him. Republicans and Democrats differ in this respect: Dems continue to support officials who dis them, republicans do not.

Lowering of taxes does exactly what?? Stimulates the economy. So is it the right thing to do while running a deficit or is it just another form of stimulus ?? If we continue to increase the deficit what did we accomplish??

The GOP has been proposing lowering the top marginal tax rate for a generation, all on a premise that by allowing the wealthy to keep their money, they will invest it and create jobs. That theory has been discussed at length and I would hate to beat a dead horse, so let’s take the GOP and the conservatives at their word. Back in 1980s the Republicans, headed by Ronald Reagan began cutting the top marginal tax bracket. In 1982-1986 the top marginal tax rate was 50%. In 1987 the tax rate dropped to 38.5%, so for the majority (7 out of 8 years) of Reagan’s terms the tax rate for the wealthiest Americans was well above the top tax rates of today. In fact the wealthy only kept HALF or less of their money under most of Reagan’s presidency, yet that was enough to stimulate the economy according to many conservatives who credit the tax rates for the economic expansion of the 1980s.

Now if lowering taxes actually worked over the long term why must it be repeated every 10 years??

Simple! We have been unable to keep Congress from spending like drunken sailors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And THIS president runs up his own bills that aren't helping matters - and CONGRESS IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. We have a bunch of on-the-rim-of-insane Congressmen who think they are Gods, and a President who thinks he is God, and a bunch of stupid, lazy, and scared population who actually THINK WE NEED LEADERS. Give me a break! I need these people like I need another root canal. If you could keep your money you pay in taxes, would you be this deeply in debt? No, you wouldn't and neither can I. But Congress can spend as long as the ink for fake money, which we are using, holds on. Every time they print more to cover their stupidity, OUR dollars drop in value. I think one is today worth about 4 cents. When dollars were first printed, they were worth 100 cents. They spend, spend, spend, I believe I read to the tune of $200,000,000 per minute. I could be wrong about that - it could be that much in an hour.

Either way, WHO is the guilty party? YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS, that's who. And they must cut something, but I've never known a Democrat who would cut anything except military, and that is one of the FEW things Congress exists for and is responsible for. Congress has no business in social programs. No business. NONE at all.

jjb: It should be repeated every year until this government is whittled down to a size where the right hand can find the left. The greatest economist of all time Milton Friedman has made this statement for years! Do not let government control ...but let government regulate under the eyes of the people!

TOO BAD the same can not be said of his policies
Yes when history does not suit you, you want to forget it. The problem here is the policies that have been sold to the american people by Reagan and every Republican that followed him are farr from conservative or good for the working man.

I am of the opinion that it's looking bad for the Republicans, and that's why Benghazi is being rehashed. It's like voting to kill Obamacare for the 53rd time. This is the 8th time a panel has convened on Benghazi and they haven't found anything. I know they won't find anything this time either, except , albeit a new hair from one of the new panelists. This is going to finish off Republicans in 2014.

And a few million dollars more in contributions from the far right. Even after the guy running it said it would be wrong to do so
