The new pope wants to redistribute the wealth globally. Perhaps he should start bt giving the Catholic Church's monay to the poor people of the world.

The Catholic Church is probably the world's richest otganization, with more money and assets than the U.S. government.

Well that's not a good comparision. The U.S. is actually insolvent, with debt far exceeding its assets.

I believe the Catholic church is the world's richest organization.

You are very probably correct. The last time I visited the Vatican, there was obvious wealth throughout. A small yard sale there could run most poor countries for years.

I've always thought that if and when Christ does return, the last place on earth he would visit would be the Vatican.
Church, religion, is a business....and that was/is not what Jesus Christ had in mind.....
If all the wealth of the churches was given to the world, there would probably be no homeless, hungry, or anyone in need. Fat chance.......that's never gonna happen, is it?

Interesting assessment of the Vatican. Seems you would have to be blind not to see the wealth. This wealth goes way way way back though. What do you think of all the wealthy sheiks and kings of the Middle East and all of their citizens living a third world life stuck in an even worse cult?

Let him designate some space in the Vatican as a homeless shelter.

There was a Peter Sellers comedy from 1963 called Heavens Above! where he plays a radical Anglican vicar in a wealthy English town who preaches that the wealthy give away a good chunk of their dough in the name of Jesus. Some wealthy citizens buy into it, causing much economic chaos.

I thoroughly agree. The Catholic Church should divest itself and in so doing become a Church of the people.

One 'gift' giver is enough in this world... let all the rich people give some... like Gates, Apple... all the NEWS people... and especially OBAMA

Of the all world's faiths, I don't know of any where there's an equivalent centralized wealthy authority. Judaism and Protestantism are far more decentralized.

Could you afford to raise a child today? If so, perhaps you may want to adopt a homeless person in your town and start a new trend. My church and her people give of themselves in clothing, food, and labor to deliver those in need.
But I don't know of anybody who has opened their home. That include the worlds greatest philanthropists. Gates was put back a notch when Zuckerberg donated much more than him last year. I agree if we all gave a little it could help those in need today, but if we gave too much it would worsen society by weakening our drive for servival.

If this president and past presidents would stop giving all those other countries who don't appreciate it.. we would be better off here at home... Look how much money was given to Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.... he was awarded MILLIONS...

What I don't understand.. is why this country and others too.. when they want to help a country.. just pay their bills rather than hand over the cash for them to pocket or spend it on them selves.... No one knows where all those millions and millions this country gave to Karzai and others as well... there is no accounting what so ever...

When you have a cash drawer of petty cash... you also have to put in a receipt of what you spent things on... common sense tells you that... then only for Karzai to flip the finger at the US... so much for the usa's millions and millions to him... while he pocketed all that money... and laughed at our stupidity...
