AGREED. My ancestors mostly came from Germany in the 1880s and1890s, so nope - nothing due from me!

Good post!
I always ask what reparations the families of all the soldiers who died fighting for the freedom of slaves are owed? What reparations for them?
I think we should make payment for Americans of African descent in the same eligibility that the Japanese won their restitution.
For the Japanese:
In order to have been eligible for restitution, an applicant had to have been:
1. alive on August 10, 1988
2. a United States (U.S.) citizen or permanent resident alien during the internment period December 7, 1941 to June 30, 1946
3. a person of Japanese ancestry, or the spouse or parent of a person of Japanese ancestry
4. evacuated, relocated, interned, or otherwise deprived of liberty or property as a result of Federal government action during the internment period and based solely on their Japanese ancestry
This should be the order for the American’s of African descent.
1. alive in 1860
2. a citizen or on the census of owner in 1860
3. a person of African ancestry
4. held in slavery prior to 1865
