I don't know how many of you are dog people, but I couldn't live without my dogs around, they just make my life complete. I have had a dog since I was around 10 years old and could never abuse them any more then I could people. Then I read something like this and it makes me sick. It is an indication of just how sick our society has become. Anyone that treats a dog like this should have the same thing done to them.

Lillie had to undergo surgery after she was found with a rubber band wrapped around her nose and mouth. The rubber band had "dug all the way through to her sinus cavity," Paws Patrol Pet Rescue said.

MESQUITE, Texas - A pet rescue group in Mesquite helped recover and care for a dog found last week with a rubber band embedded around the dog's nose and mouth, CBS Dallas reports.

Paws Patrol Pet Rescue says the rubber band was wrapped around the dog's nose and "dug all the way through to her sinus cavity."

The dog, Lille, underwent successful surgery at Creek Crossing Animal Clinic in Mesquite, a suburb east of Dallas. The surgery was paid for by private donations.

Lille has a long recovery ahead of her, but has already settled into a foster home, where she's made friends with a bulldog.

It is unclear if the party responsible for the animal abuse has been identified.

You may not want to look at the pictures, but I couldn't stand to look in those sad little eyes knowing what she has gone though. How anyone could do something like this is beyond me.

"They", the sociopathic psychopaths with no conscience or feeling except the vileness of cruelty and the desire to control or hurt others be it man, beast, or any facet of life on earth, are present everywhere. You ask how they can do these things. "These things", "it", "the action" against anything they cannot control, own or kill is the driving force of "what" "they" ARE. It makes up their being, destroys lives, this earth, humanity.......the planet, and the existence of all things....the living, the inert, the future, the unborn.
Be it that poor canine, who, by the grace of God obviously, was saved....or anything else mentioned above, look around. This is obvious around the world....today. Not a pretty picture. I am SO glad that I am 71 instead of 17.

You and I agree on absolutely nothing ... except this! Dogs are incredible animals that deserve nothing less than returning the unconditional love and loyalty they show to us.

I cry every time I see or read stories like these. Like the old man who beat his dog to death with a sledge hammer because it peed in the kitchen, or blowing off M80's in a dogs mouth, or tying a Dalmatian to tree to train Pitbulls to kill.

These people should be given the exact same treatment they have perpetrated against the defenseless.

It is NEVER the animals fault for misbehavior it is it's human owner that is !!!

It has been said that those who advocate torture of animal abusers are no better than the abusers.
Oh, well, I've been called worse.

I have several friends who do volunteer time at animal rescue shelters, so nothing that happens to animals surprises me. The abuse that people can do to their children as well as their animals indicates that evil is out there, we need to call it that.

However, it is always possible that the dog was not intentionally abused. The dog could have been a stray that, while searching for food, stuck her head in a package that had a band around it, and couldn't get the band back off, or accidentally got something wrapped around her muzzle and couldn't remove it, and several weeks later appeared somewhere where a person was able to rescue her. One of the vets who works with our Mastiffs said he once had a client bring in a dog that had a choke collar embedded in his neck. The lest than brilliant owner put the choke collar on the dog when he was a puppy and didn't notice that it was getting tight until the choke chain was so embedded into the flesh as to be barely seen. As I remember it, he only noticed the damage when the maggots from the infected wound became visible through the thick coat. Never put a choke collar on a dog except when you are training the dog, and remove it as soon as the training session is over!
I firmly believe that a quarter of the people who own animals should not ever do so, as they are unfit parents to kids or dogs.
The new therapy Mastiff that I am training for a friend is the type that would cause most owners to want to punch him out, but it is just that type that makes the best therapy dog in the long run. By the time he is ready to go to work, he will be as great as the two my wife and I have, but not all breeds are good for all people. At least the Mastiffs are capable of working with abuse victims and putting up with the extra long hugs and deep sadness some of the boys have, so the dogs are worth their weight in gold.
Have you found a new dog yet?

On another note, I have posted a couple things on the Notre Dame page you might be interested in.

Take care, friend.

As a matter of fact, I did get another dog. I found a Chocolate Yourkie that has some minor health problems, but nothing that will slow it down as long as it is looked after. It is super easy to treat now that it has had it's major treatment taken care of and that was a minor infection he had to take antibiotics for, but those are done now and the infection is cleared up. The other is just a liquid dewormer that he may have to take the rest of his life, but that is super easy to give him. He is a little large for a normal Yourkie at 9 pounds, but my last two were rather large too and I really don't care about the size. He is a joy to be around, but I still have to work on house breaking him. No big deal really, but he has a couple of bad habits to break first. Since I am retired, I have all the time in the world to spend teaching him and caring for him. Plenty of time to break bad habits.

"You and I agree on absolutely nothing." I wouldn't go that far. There have been times that I agree with you, just not very often. Just because I don't always post and tell you I agree with you doesn't mean I never agree with you. I will agree that it doesn't happen very often.

Glad to hear that you got another dog. Yorkies are usually happiest to be with their owners and I imagine he is already by your side most of the time. I think toy dogs are harder to housebreak than bigger dogs, because they have such small bladders and can't hold it all that long What is his name? Why don't you post a photo of him here? It seems that our animals can bring us closer together no matter what our politics are. That was apparent when you posted that you had lost your best friend. We can all connect through our friends with four paws. That is great isn't it?

I had a 5 1/2 hour drive to bring him home and for the first 10 minuets or so, he was looking around the car investigating everything. After that, he got in my lap and looked out the window for about an hour and then got tired and slept the rest of the way home. Now he wants to go everywhere with me and I normally take him. He is constantly at my side, or under foot and follows me everywhere.

His name was Dillon, but I just didn't care for that, so I changed it to Reggie. He is answering to that one already. He had to learn how to go up and down stairs and how to jump. When I first got him he had no idea how to jump on the couch and just bounced a little, but now he hops up and down by himself all the time and loves running the stairs. The first two days I had him I put him on the couch and I guess he thought that was his home, because he wouldn't leave it except when I took him outside. I don't think he had even seen stairs before. He is 17 months old now and while still a puppy, he is old enough to learn anything he needs to learn.

He likes to watch TV and barks at a dog when he sees one. I think he thinks it is a window and those are real people there. If someone comes on that he doesn't like, he will bark at them too. My male Yourkie used to run though the doggie door at full speed being chased by the female. I thought he was going to kill himself, but he never did. She would slow down, but he never did. I haven't even introduced this one to the door yet, but I will soon.

House breaking a dog is dependent on the dog I think. Some are just bull headed and are hard to train. Others are super easy and almost no work. As for a picture, I will have to hunt up my camera before I can post one. I haven't used it in such a long time I have no idea where I put it. He is strictly a house dog and I would not have it any other way.

Yorkies are so awesome! My sister has a small Yorkie that is quite up in age now. The Yorkies name is 'Wendy', and has been with my Sis since it was 8mos. old.
The strangest yet cutiest thing that Wendy would do, is when she was left home while my Sis had to go to work, is that when my Sis got home, Wendy would get so excited to see her, that she would begin running from room to room in the house, stopping to bark and bark inside each room, not stopping until she had ran around my Sis in a circle, barking at the air. It was so cute! My Sis said that she thought Wendy was chasing away all the bad spirits from her!

Animals are so awesome! The closer they are to your family, and the owner, the more of their personality is shown. This is opposite from a dog that is chained up outside to a post, all by its self the majority of it's life.

I think that is what dogs are on earth for, chasing away the evil spirits. As I watch some of the abuse victims talking to the Mastiffs, and the dogs sitting there next to the boy listening intently and one in a while just patting the boy with a front foot, I really understand the man dog connection as a gift from God. More and more people who work with abused children are using therapy dogs to help the children make the connection to the world that is not made up of evil, hateful, and abusive people. I can see in the boys behavior their trust reappear and some of the fear disappear, and it gladdens my heart." Dogs are not my whole life but they make my life whole." don't know where I heard that saying originally but it is so very true.
