I am also a vet. Flying the flag upside down is a distress signal. My oath was to protect the Constitution. Without that we are just a bunch of rocks and dirt with people and building on it. The flag, however, is a symbol of that Constitution. I think people should have a right to disrespect the flag, and others should have a right to beat the shit out of them for doing it. Say, a maximum fine of $1?
