The Flush Rush campaign is affecting fatty's ratings

So Rush Limbaugh makes fun of militant feminists by calling them feminazis. So what?

Steve Colbert makes fun of conservative media, including Fox News. I've laughed from both them. I have a sense of humor.

While I do listen to conservative media, I also listen to NPR and occasionally read The Nation magazine in the library.

I personally never buy the NY Times because I can't take certain of their writers, such as Thomas Friedman. They have a certain tone I can't stand. I don't get up on a soapbox and ask everyone else to do the same.

It is a free country, I know that, and people like Rush are at liberty to be as vile and without conscience on the airways as they care to be--for ratings, not for truth. But promoting hate and divisiveness purposely by distorting facts or making them up, as entertaining as it is to others who are as mean-spirited as he, is just not entertaining or American to me. But if we take him just as a clownish parody of "angry old white men" and not in any way serious, it is tolerable.

Rumitoid how does Rush promote hate? So anyone who does not agree with the current liberal progressive movement are angry old white men? By you saying that, aren't you too promoting hate? This kind of reminds me of how my teenage kids try to twist situations to make me feel guilty about the difficult decisions I make like not allowing them to go out with their friends to Disneyland because I don't have the money or not buying them the 500.00 I phone they want or making them work for the money I give them. You see to them I am a hater.

Rumitoid I have been reading these posts for a couple of years now. I see that you like to promote respect so that we could have meaningful discussions. But the person who posted this topic is downright disrespectful. I mean "fatty"? So they refer to people they don't like with childish names? I read one of your posts regarding who is meaner, the left or the right. I must say I notice there are a few on this forum that hate us white american conservative people and their posts generally do not stay on topic and resort to name calling. I listen to Rush sometimes and I don't agree with everything but I don't feel he promotes hate just like when I have listened or watched Bill Maher.

We need to be careful how we define hate. A few years ago, when 3 white lacrosse players from Long island were indicted for rape by a black woman at Duke University in North Carolina, the NY Times carried the story on page 1 or 2.

After at least several months and revelations of the DA suppressing exonerating evidence, the case was dismissed.
The NY Times listed the story on page 16 or somewhere in the back.

This shows contempt for white people. What they're suggesting is that discriminatory justice against white people is not too big a deal. Are white people full of unjustified hate if we object?

Bill Maher falls into the same ilk, in my eyes. What both find as entertainment is making ugly caricatures out of the opposing side. Sometimes the buffoonery on either side needs some playfulk mocking. But both seem to have the purpose of denigrating the other side, which creates anger and discord. I would not listen to either just as I would not listen to a speech from the KKK or attend the Westboro Church protests (or even take a leaflet from them).
Both of those men promote name calling and insults as party loyalty and more, as patriotism for America. Sorry, it makes me ill.

And thank you for recognizing how I conduct myself. I am not perfect in this but that is my value I try to follow. And I agree: calling him "fatty" is disrespectful.

Okay, maybe their tone is not the most civil. Getting past that, the substance of their ideas should be discussed. If anyone disagrees, they should substantiate why.

I knew this was yours before I even opened it....

Stopped listening to him because, well just for starters I guess, because he's a f*^%king drug addict. And an idiot. Can't believe people still worship this mental midget.

Calling limburg fatty is disrepectful? Are you in an alternative universe?

Where is your "outrage" for all of the names that the president is called? Ovomit? Opuko? Obummer? I haven't seen one post from complaining about those names, so you must agree with those posters.

Where is your outrage for all of the names that democrats and liberals and minorites are called?

Clean up up your own house before worrying about what I call fat limburg, palin or any other rightwingnut who deserves the same respect as teapartyconservatives give the president.

On any given show I have ever had the great misfortune to hear, he promoted of hate and divisiveness, which may unite some into a tighter lock-step and blindly obedient group to their extreme biases, but in general causes discord.

It just occurred to me why you do not think he promotes hate and divisiveness: you simply agree with all his characterizations of democrats and liberals.
