I remember Rodney King riots! I actually think today's riots are much worse , since hate for the Police is much worse !! So this is time for the military,since Governors and Mayors are useless !
You don't want martial law , if you think it's bad now it will be worse on your personal rights when it is declared.

The national guard serves at the pleasure of state governors domestically, not the president. It is against the law for the president to use US troops against Americans on American soil.

And again you display our ignorance. But no surprise there....it's all you have.
The President has the authority to activate the National Guard.
See 10 U.S. Code § 12406

Pay attention to what you write yourself, Kevydummy:
"The national guard serves at the pleasure of state governors domestically, not the president." (your comment). I pointed out that is incorrect according to the US Code cited.
Spanked you again......
"Whenever—
(1) the United States, or any of the Commonwealths or possessions, is invaded or is in danger of invasion by a foreign nation;
(2) there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States; or
(3) the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States;
the President may call into Federal service members and units of the National Guard of any State in such numbers as he considers necessary to repel the invasion, suppress the rebellion, or execute those laws. Orders for these purposes shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia.

During the riots the National Guard were not federalized they were still in at the lowest level of asistance. They were federalized after law and order was reestablished. According to the report from the officer in charge.Also if you weren't in the area that was involved you may not have been effected.

The president has the authority to nationalize the National Guard.
