Not the most powerful monologue I've ever heard, but it was very good. Some points though:
Governors, mayors, police chiefs and sheriffs are in position to provide far more immediate leadership in getting things under control than the president. The president can lay out some guide lines for the entire nation, but it's up to the local authorities - state on down - to deal with circumstances specific to their own jurisdictions.
The fact that president Trump announced the possibility of using military (NG) troops is a signal to local leadership that they are failing to do the job. And, that is a scary proposition.
The fact that local leaders and police are "taking knees" in support of this violence makes this even more frightening. These cowards are guaranteeing an escalation in destruction and death. They are leaving self defense totally in the hands of a hell of lot of people.
For my part and those of the people where I live, little chance we will see rioting scumbags show up here. But if they do, they'd better arm themselves with something more lethal than a ladder or a skateboard. I can guarantee a two by four is no protection against a blast of double ought buckshot from a 12 gauge.

OR taking a knee could be considered an attempt to deescalate the situation which is the right way to handle it ,which was the method I was taught while serving on Shore Patrol and Military Police. Different group but same methods.
