I hear ya, Long ago and far away, I was apolitical, with a slight right lean, and yes, I was also one that took care of business and didnt really pay that much attention to the gov't.. although in the 6th grade one of my class mates came to school wearing a George Mcgovern for president T-shirt.. even at the age was, I figured it was her folks that got her the t-shirt.. we are talkin bout 1971'ish I guess.. as long as the politics didn't affect me I could care less.. and also like you, I paid bills, vacation, what's that?? lol.. in my adult life, my vacations were usually at my folks place and they were "working vacations" for both my hubby and myself.. had to take a vacation from the vacation!... Now a days, it's the old adage of once you've heard the bell ring you can't UN hear it...Also, noted in my young adult life to current, that there is No such thing as a social liberal and a fiscal conservative.. The propaganda was that only the very rich would be taxed. .005% of the population would be assessed a small fee. (IMO) millions of voters know very little about government. Instead we follow meekly along, looking neither to the left or right, following whatever the guys who know best say is best. How do we know they know best?
