The only person I knew while serving that died, happened aboard ship while in port in the Philippines, or Japan. He was on guard duty on deck for the midnight shift. One of his shipmate friends came aboard drunk. My friend talked him into going to bed and sleep it off. He came back on deck 5 minutes later with a curved knife, went up to my friend and stabbed him in the gut. He died a few hours later. I remember coming aboard my ship and heard they were looking for blood doners. Unfortunately I had been drinking so they didn't take me. This was shortly before the Viet Nan war started up. Imagine being killed by one of our own. We went through school together before being assigned to different ships in the same task force.

USS Scorpion lost with all hands. Don't forget the 52 US submarines lost during WWII.

In memory of coworkers I lost in New York and at the Pentagon's Naval Command Center on 9/11.
We had just finished rebuilding the segment where the NCC was located.
Rest in Peace!
