Proably most of the deaths were from complications, this is from a friend who caught it and made it through. His take was he was doing OK until he got congested almost had to go to Er. Since his wife caught it two days later they were together. Anyway she suggested using a decongestant so it got better.
So since the virus was new there wasn't any procedure to follow so the hospital staff went to default treatments. As the days went by experience showed different methods could be used.

My take on it is that deaths have a stabilized historical number that tracks true from year to year, go back and look at the weekly "natura;" and unexplained deaths and coronavirus is causing significant jumps in deaths that are not being attributed because there was no test positive. Dead is dead, and a jump in nursing home deaths of of huge numbers is not because of the underlying conditions, it is coronavirus triggering them...cause of death coronavirus related. This is a stupid argument, and the bottom line is that profoundly more could be being done to save thousands of people in nursing homes that is not being done.

The economy should have been able to intelligently start opening up had the government been doing even a fraction of what it could be doing.

People live in nursing homes for years with pre existing problems, it's why they are in nursing homes, run coronavirus through the facility and you are going to lose people that would have lived longer.
