No way Canadians will do away with hockey, right? I get it hockey’s racist. Mostly white guys (and a few Uncle Toms) hitting a black puck with a stick.

These days our kids aren't even allowed to play dodgeball...

And there has been talk of banning hockey from the PE curriculum...

Lots of playground equipment has been replaced...

My sister's kids are 8 and 7... Have been in swimming lessons for years... But are afraid to go in the water without a life jacket

I remember when I was 12 and she was 10 we had gone on one of our cross-country trips to visit family... We were in Ontario on the Rainy lake at a cousin's cabin... Huge storm... Trees going down... Waves swamping the dock... And our mom let us put on lifejacketa, tie ourselves to the dock with some rope, and play in the waves... It was awesome...
These days our kids aren't even allowed to play do... (show quote)

Certainly not... Hockey will always be with us... But it might be removed from the public school curriculum... Very dangerous..

We used to have the no high sticking rule... And chopping was discouraged... Also, teachers never allowed fights to play out...

But it was relatively safe for kids to play... Might have an occasional accident... Or lose a tooth... Nothing serious...

There's a hockey Club up here... It's pathetic... Decent speed, and good reflexes... But no sense of teamwork... And the contact is ridiculous... (they dive like they're playing soccer)

Memories. We used to just play baseball in the middle of the street. Sewer covers were the various bases. And we all learned to dodge cars while playing. Now I see pussy men coddling there kids and teaching them to play with out pitching. They put the ball on a peg and let the kid swing away. They wimp down America and wonder why everyone wants to hide at home behind a mask and a large bottle of hand sanitizer and peek threw the curtains to see if a big bad bug is marching down the street. And we wonder why?

Back when I played hockey, we were required to wear helmets until we turned 18. Helmets then were uncomfortable and not the best protection. Like most at the time, when I turned 18 the helmet got 'lost'. I was a defense first type of defenseman and loved blocking shots. After they changed the rules and all the younger players had to wear full facemasks in addition to the helmets, the game got more dangerous because nobody was teaching them to keep their sticks down. It cost me a couple of teeth and a number of scars because of the reckless actions of the younger guys in the league.

I've still got all my teeth.. But I have a scar over my right eye...

We played with face masks on the ice... But had to be more careful during PE...

I also played defense... Never knew fear...

Welts were badges of honor....

Half of my dad's teeth are false... Same with his brother's... They're only five foot sux... But awesome reflexes.... He played in Canada, the US, and Germany...

Everything 'fun' is slowly being outlawed these days. I guessing that within a few hundred years of evolving humans will no longer have the ability to smile.

It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye.

When I was a kid, we had a somewhat different definition of "cornhole."
