Perhaps someone can clear up WHY are we building a pipeline from Canada to Texas over vast oil reserves like Wyoming with a estimated 200 year supply at todays current demand ? Hmmmm

The tar sands are owned by others. They decide who to sell it to.

The pipeline is owned by others. Temporary construction jobs is the only small benefit here.

Eminent domain laws will condemn and seize US land owners on behalf of overseas interests.

The risk of a spill on top of an enormous fresh water aquifer is dangerously possible.

None of this oil will be refined here. Domestic refiners already operate at 90% plus capacity. No room. Overseas it goes.

And if any of this oil does get refined here, it will result in a loss of US jobs. That's because domestic crude now produced will compete with this cheap sludge for refiner space. Refiners buy the lowest priced oil...and will drive domestic crude down or out...or result in capped wells.

The argument that "flooding the market" with this new energy stream is bogus too. The price of oil is driven by demand...not supply. The world has an insatiable appetite for oil, especially China. We can't make enough...whatever the source. And you can be sure the oil cartel will make sure the price stays high and go to the highest bidder.

Thousands of protesters are demanding that the keystone xl pipeline be cancelled, permanently.

The Cowboy and Indian Alliance, consisting of farmers, ranchers, Native tribes, and property and small business owners are making very clear that they do not want TransCanada taking their land.

This seems like all of the rightwing conservatives in congress and those who post here should support. After all, property rights are sacrosanct according to the usual faux views and fat limburg listeners. The support for the welfare rancher bundy brought out the gun-toting militia and the dunce governor in Texas was all upset about BLM policies in Texas.

So where are the teapartyconservativerepublicans regarding THIS issue?

Crickets as ususal when it comes to corporate greed in the oil industry.

I do not support the Keystone pipeline. From everything I have read, it will be an environmental nightmare with no real value to the people. When will we stop allowing the water we drink and the air we breath to be held hostage for the benefit of the corporate masters?

We need to address the mess we have made of this planet not just continue down the path of profit, profit, profit. Even an animal knows better than to soil it's den.

I have signed petitions to stop this rape of the planet.

The BP gulf platform blow-out is a case in point. We jeopardized our sea food and beaches for ultra deep sea oil. BP gambled and the U.S. lost.

One of the major goals of the petro criminals is to socialize the risks and privatize the profits. This is what BP and the Koch brothers are all about.

Their philosophy is that if the peasants water becomes polluted, let them drink boutique wines.

The oil sands are the Canadian version of the La Brea Tarpits, toxic sludge, that would only be used by people whose options are running out. Same thing for shale oil and natural gas fracking.

President Obama, after the Nov. election will put this pipeline sludge project out of its misery (at least on the U.S. side of the border with Canada).

How about the jobs that the Keystone Pipeline would produce and let Americans live like they should instead of on Government dole? Are you only thinking of yourselves and not thinking of the strain we are putting on our grandchildren backs to pay back some of the debt we are increasing daily? Sure I want a clean America but not at the expense of people. The flacking and new methods of producing natural gas and oil have brought of economic growth in states that were not doing too well. Don't listen to the Environments who work for Obuma, they are working with him to destroy America.

I'm sorry but I disagree. I've studied this issue and argue its merits from a capitalistic perspective. No permanent jobs will be created from this. Only a few thousand temp construction jobs. Otherwise we lose jobs from the oil patch. This cheap foreign owned oil will shove out domestic crude resulting in capped wells and bankrupt drillers. What am I missing here?

Signing a petition is a show of solidarity to the politicians and lawmakers who receive them. One does not have to be a radical enviornmentalist to believe something is wrong. In my area the federal forests were locked up and resulted in mill closures and loss of thousands of good paying jobs. The spotted Owl was just a smoke screen. The fact is it was a way to keep federal logs from being exported overseas. Log exporting is the big thing here and along with that our jobs are exported. I am against exporting our raw materials. we are not a tiny island nation. Export our finished products only. That keystone oil can be refined here and people in foriegn countrys can buy our exported gasoline and diesel or not. More for us.
