They recognize you because they know you, they are your neighbors, babysit your children, shop in the same grocery store, go to the same post office and beauty shop, use the same dentist and doctors, take your dog to the same veterinarian they take theirs to, and stop in to say hello and bring you flowers and dinner if they know you are under the weather. In other words, they are your friends and care about you, unlike city folk who ignore you, and have no problem pretending you are a nonentity. We have lived in both worlds and prefer small town life.
