That is a Belgian Malinois a highly intelligent protection breed. Several friends who have them say they stare at their images in mirrors too. One said that one day she put some peanut butter on the dogs ear and the dog walked over to the mirror and looked at himself, found the spot where the peanut butter was and took his front paw and carefully wiped off the spot and then licked his foot and wiped the ear again to make sure it was clean, so they are not stupid dogs. They are serious protection dogs, so don't EVER threaten their owner unless you want to end up in the hospital.

That's great! My cat did the exact same thing when we brought her home as a kitten. Animals bring much more enjoyment to me than most people do.

I agree which is why we have 3 Cane corso Mastiffs , one Welsh Terrier and one Staffordshire Bull terrier, who is the boss of all the dogs.

That is a very intelligent dog..

Mine however is more of an action first, think later..

But he truly finds by to be the wonderful human thing that I am..

and he is getting increasingly rough... he has been so bad that the dog down the road has gone home.. I want that to stop..

His at home play buddy is an English lab, or British lab, whichever is right. the lab is husky and about 70 lbs now.. but has the mind set of being the new dog and always gives into my dog.. they go at each other like a couple of line backers.. but never seem to get hurt..

Truly I do like my dog, but wish he would let up on the neighbor's dog.. that one is a truly fine black lab cross..

Yes, they are much smarter than a German shepherd. If I had room for a dog that would be one breed I would absolutely give serious consideration to owning. Oops, The left and PC progressives don't want us to say we own an animal. We are their human companion of some other nonsensical PC term.

Gee, do not tell my dog, he thinks I am his servant.. feed him water him, play with him.. provide his bed.. etc..

do not forget fast, like a speeding bullet and then the real deal is after the catch up and tackle..

Mals are very territorial, as are all protection dogs, they are supposed to be. The other dog is trespassing on your dogs property.

Excellent advice. Let’s not drag dogs into this very political situation. Most dogs are smarter than most people and a lot more likable.

No, the dog is your property and you own it. And a Mal is one very tough dog, so if you want one plan on checking out temperament of parents an grandparents and start training right way or the dog will be the boss . Our mastiffs are around 135 pounds each but no where as tough as a Mal because they are not as agile. Just do your research before you get any dog.

Well, he can't be too smart if he thinks you're a wonderful person! Just kidding.

You're alright for a liberal. But if E.T. aliens visited us for the first time they would think Dogs rule the world. They get us to clean up their poop and they have to pull us around on a leash. Who is leading whom?

Our staffy bull (remember that it is a different breed from the American Staffordshire terrier) is 38 pounds of energy, very powerful and definately a dominant dog, however he is fun and charming and loves people..
