The one good thing about the Corona virus

As business and travel have ground to a near halt around the world one very obvious positive has come of it, a tremendous reduction in most types of pollution. The canals in Venice are clean and dolphins fish and birds not seen in years have returned. Air pollution around the world is way down as is the pollution dumped in the lakes streams and oceans. This improvement in air quality is of course a blessing for people with repertory illness and those unfortunate enough to contract the virus. You would think this is something everyone would feel good about, the silver lining of a dark cloud. But not the Idiot Pumpkinfurher. Under his order the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has suspended its enforcement of environmental laws during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, signaling to companies they will not face any sanction for polluting the air or water of Americans.

In an extraordinary move that has stunned former EPA officials, the Trump administration said it will not expect compliance with the routine monitoring and reporting of pollution and won’t pursue penalties for breaking these rules.

What the hell is wrong with this moron, has he no shame to go with a complete lack of common sense? The congress should add a line to the current rescue bill that insists the EPA enforce our environmental laws.

Kevyn - You could have been fair minded, but you decided to not do that - JUST LIKE THE FAKE NEWS NETWORKS.
I found an article from The Guardian at https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/mar/27/trump-pollution-laws-epa-allows-companies-pollute-without-penalty-during-coronavirus.
While you are correct quoting "In an extraordinary move that has stunned former EPA officials", you conveniently did not add, "Polluters will be able to ignore environmental laws as long as they can claim in some way these violations were caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In the event of an imminent threat to public health, the EPA will defer to the states and “consider the circumstances” over whether it should intervene."
In other words, the EPA still has the discretion to enforce regulations if they deem it necessary - considering the circumstances.
Trump didn't tell the EPA to shut its doors and turn their heads to violations. Key words for me - consider the circumstances. So, even if a company pollutes and the EPA deems that the Covid-19 pandemic had nothing to do with a regulation violation, the circumstances deem that the EPA would/should enforce the regulations. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that's a common sense approach, with the hope being that companies will be "good citizens" and will not take advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic to overtly and intentionally pollute. Yeah, it puts a lot of faith in corporations to not violate regs, but then this is an extraordinary time that requires some faith in people (who are corporate America) to use good practices.
It seems to me that the oil refineries in Texas - if upon investigation - are actually in violation as described in this article, the EPA should strictly enforce the regulations; and the Congress and the Trump Administration should kick-ass and take names - take names of the people in charge and take direct action against them.

That's a miracle, man, the instant the coronavirus showed up, the entire ecosystem of planet earth did a reboot. Overnight, all possible pollutants in the earth, air, water, and fire immediately began to dissolve. It is absolutely essential that all movement and delivery of supplies critical to human life be stopped. Trucks, trains, boats and planes must shut down their engines and go into mothballs. That way humans will gradually die out and our tired old earth won't have to reboot again.

Nature often does whatever is necessary in order to make the most number of experts wrong.
Robert Preston: Crisis in the Red Zone

Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.

Earlier I posted a comment about improvement in the environment being a lone benefit of the reaction to the corona virus. While the majority of what I posted is true I mentioned dolphins being sighted in the lagoon in Venice for the first time in memory. I foolishly got this information from social media rather than a legitimate media source. I just read a piece in National Geographic, a well respected organization for over a century, that referenced the information as false. If any of you forwarded my post please forward this retraction. And further keep in mind not to believe anything you receive in your social media feeds, the majority of it is not true. Refer to legitimate news sources that have a history of following journalistic and scholarly standards. I am embarrassed for forwarding this false information. Please double check your sources to avoid doing the same.
