For someone using the moniker StraightUp you sure have a twisted view of reality.
That's exactly how people saw Galileo's assertion that the Earth revolved around the Sun. To ignorant people, accurate descriptions of reality DO appear twisted.

a conference on immigration overpopulation is utterly ridiculous. >>>Wrong from the get go. Over population of immigrants stresses America's ability to not only educate our own children but also those of the immigrants. Throw in the illegal invaders and you have a real mess that tax paying Americans have to pay for.
Wow, I've NEVER heard THAT claim before! Ha, ha!
I tell ya what... instead of just parroting that same tired old argument like every other half-wit why don't you explain HOW immigrants stress America's ability to educate our own children. I have two theories on this but I'll you go first, since you're the one making the charge.
LogicallyRight wrote:
Immigrants MADE America! >>> Wrong again. Immigrants started off killing the indigenous people of America.
...and how was that not part of making America what it is today?
LogicallyRight wrote:
Yes, many immigrants came to America and through hard work paid their own way and maybe that of many others. But those that were born here also did a hell of a job or those immigrants wouldn't have been coming here for our wonderful opportunities.
I agree, many immigrants AND many born here have contributed. But this doesn't explain the assertion that immigrants are a burden. In fact, VERY few of those born here would have been if not for an ancestral immigrant. I can't remember the exact figure but it was something like 80% of natural born Americans are only third generation or less.

And everything that is great about America today is BECAUSE of immigrants! >>>No. Wrong again. It is because of those that lived here and paid taxes and created a desirable society ruled by laws and under the best Constitution in the world that made a society where some of them could succeed through hard work.
Well, there's more in that excitable nugget to unpack than you probably realize. I'll just ask some questions...
1. Do you really know that our constitution is the best in the world, or is that just another "polly wanna cracker"? Have you even read a constitution from another country? Can you even name another country with a constitution?
2. Do you think immigrants don't pay taxes?
3. Can you point to the part of our constitution that ensures we can succeed through hard work?

Immigrants are actually the most educated demographic in America today. >>>Wrong again. Many immigrants are just what you say. But add in 12,000,000 illegal blood sucking invaders and so many more from dirty filthy third world countries, looking for a free handout, and your dynamics are all gone to hell.
LOL... see here's the problem with bigotry in general... it tends to settle on outdated information, like how old-wives tales survive into the modern era. Do yourself a favor and have a look at some source that aren't 50 years old. You might be surprised. I'll give you two examples from the first article in my search...
https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2018-03-19/most-immigrants-outpace-americans-when-it-comes-to-education-with-a-big-exception1.
In a working paper distributed this month by the National Bureau of Economic Research, they documented that most immigrant groups either arrived with high levels of education or their U.S. born children quickly met or exceeded the schooling level of the typical American.2.
male immigrants from Africa arrived with 14.4 years of education, on average, which is the equivalent of a high school diploma plus nearly two and a half years of college. That exceeds the 13.8 years of schooling of the average non-Hispanic white man in the United States. That second one is about immigrants from what you are calling the "dirty filthy third world"
I'm not just going by what I read either... I'm a first generation American. My father was invited to this country because he had engineering skills that the American aerospace industry was looking for. He was part of what people in Britain called the "brain drain", because back in the 60's the American military-industrial complex was buying up all the brains in Europe. I can tell you now, the people that put our astronauts on the moon were at least 75% immigrants. Meanwhile, I grew up and became a software engineer and I am currently the only American in a team of mostly Indians building critical systems for our health industry. It's not because these Indians are cheap either, they make 100K+, which is more than most Americans make. It's because they are the most qualified candidates available.
So, if there is any truth to the statement that immigrants are somehow interfering with "America's" ability to educate our children, it's the fact that the availability of educated immigrants give corporations that drive our politics the option to import proven talent from abroad rather than invest in American education which may or may not yield the same returns. I am strongly suggesting that this accounts for the fact that state-funded education in America is the lowest rated in the developed world.

If you understood my point and what the word fascism means, you would find I'm not as "off-base" as you would like to believe.

They think ALL immigrant cross our border from the third world. >> Wrong again.
[/quite]
OK, that's fair. But just so you know, I wasn't being literal... You just made the point that "12,000,000 illegal blood sucking invaders and so many more from dirty filthy third world countries" invalidates my argument. Tell me that's not an overriding obsession.
LogicallyRight wrote:
But far more immigrants today fly here from places like India to build all our information systems, provide health care and lead our businesses.>>> Wrong again. Many, but not far more. And yes, they do come here. But it is many of those that try to assimilate into America, not yelling for diversity, but more interested in blending in.
First, let me acknowledge my error. I was incorrect in stating that far more immigrants come here with educated backgrounds and indeed immigrants from Mexico are still the largest immigrant faction. And I also agree that many those more educated immigrants DO try to assimilate... to a point. But, I am also noticing an assimilation of American culture to include the values and customs of immigrants and I for one have become a big fan of Indian food.
Something else to point out... the "scream for diversity" is not any louder than the "scream for cultural purity" and in many cases the later is a defiant reaction to the former. Again, from my own experience having grown up in California, it's not the Mexican immigrants so much as their U.S. born children that tattoo themselves with brown pride slogans. They don't have to worry about being deported and they resent the sh*ty treatment they and their parents experienced from white "nativists".

People like me and Bernie, >>> Bernie is a communist and we fought for about 50 years to win a cold war to save the world from Communists. The very Socialists that killed over 100,000,000 of their own citizens and destroyed successful societies.
LOL - Does Bernie look like someone who would order the death of 100,000,000 American citizens? Talk about obsessive-delirium. Bernie is a democratic-socialist which is pretty much the opposite of Stalinism. I am so pleased that the younger generation is on the verge of liberating America from these uptight cold-war hang-ups that literally controlled American minds for generations.
And how exactly did we save the world from communists if we never finished the fight in Korea and lost the war in Vietnam, which today is a thriving communist state. How did we save the world from communism if the second largest economy in the world today which owns more and more of America is in fact communist?
It seems to me like you really don't know what communism is.

Aw... sour grapes are so sad.

That's exactly what you ARE scared of. It's no mystery why your attitude is so common among the less-educated. People who can see past your parroting scare you and you know it, I know it, we all know it. This is why you try to explicitly point out that neither AOC nor I have ever had an original thought. It's the thing about us that scares you the most so you bring it up for the purpose of denying it. It's a common theme throughout human history, intellects have always been persecuted in one way or another, their theories marginalized or denied. Trump, Pence and the sad people who see them as heros are very well known for their hostility toward scientists. Climate change is a Chinese hoax - Ha, ha!

I think the people you are referring to are those that just got frustrated with their own ignorance and decided it was better to be a Republican sheep and just follow anyone who opposes all those people who were able to understand things.
