As the Virus continues to spread and more people realize the disease affects old people more than the general population, the corollary belief will grow that the aged are also carriers of the V irus. Ergo, those in their late seventies and older will begin to be shunned or worse. Is mandatory confinement a real possibility? Fear does not bring out the best in a great many people.

I'm sorry, but that is a flawed conclusion if ever there was one. If older people are at way higher risk we will know that they got it because it is likely to kill them. It is unlikely that this is going to prove to be a "carrier" type virus, but I'm sure we will know more later...
People are going to "shun" older people for sure, but not because they are afraid of them carrying the virus, but because of the consideration that if you give it to an older person it might kill them.

I am borderline elderly. Just about any disease affects us more than some twenty year old.

The other day I'm adjusting a hinge on a condo entry-door. A twenty-ish looking young man asked if I needed help. ( I obviously diddn't-he was being a wise-ass) I said one word ; "No"...
Five minutes later he was back... with his MOTHER ! "Did you say "No" to my boy?"...
I smiled , which pissed her off , and told her
"Yup" , and continued my work. She tore into me like I'd stabbed the little shit. Long-story short , I told her to file a police complaint .
Yeah , Smedley , I , too have no use for ( many of ) these helpless puppies , either.

I actually agree with you~~ nice!!!
Just yesterday My neighbor down the street called asking if I was going to the store.. Sometimes I check to see if she needs anything as she does not have a car, elderly, doesn’t drive.. Got her what she needed and dropped at her door.. Called her saying it was there.. Didn't knock as she would have invited me in.. My reason, didn’t want to take chances exposing her.. So, yes, you are right...

Ahhh , a Freudian slip. Whatever, guy. Age doesn't apply to some souls, and you're one of them. Stay happy.
