While the Trib has been liberal, it is now owned by Glen Taylor, also owner of the Timberwolves and a bunch of other businesses..

Glen is very strong Conservative.. the paper has changed a bit, the OP-ED now has longer articles and from both sides as it always has, from the time I delved the paper in high school.

Taylor once paid 10 grand to have his picture with Sara Palin and Micheal Bachmann...

He is indeed one of those Billionaire conservatives..

Now that McMillian has moved to Florida, Glen Taylor is the richest man in Minnesota..

And again, this was not to be about trump, but rather the blocking of any meaningful vote by Republican to choose a Candidate of choice, whether it be trump or anyone else..

Glad you read the whole article, I found it interesting and also puzzling that the court found it legal by the written law..
Max... br br While the Trib has been liberal, it... (show quote)

My research said that the mag was fairly balanced but had a liberal slant, not about the reporting but the opinions.
It is somewhat a strange law, but the judges remarks about a crowded ballot made sense. Also, Trump is hated so bad that many would do anything to pull his votes away.
I have to ask myself...why would ANY other Republican run against Trump?
Just my opinion but years ago we were hearing gloom and room about the economy. Trillions of dollars later I feel no different than I did during those 'good ole' days'. So why would a rep run against a sitting president just to bring attention to the national debt? The answer....RINO!
I suppose if you don't like the law, change it. That's what voting is for, after all.
Don't you think the law reflects the Dem primaries? They had ...what...23 on the floor? That's just too many. Yes, we had the same thing when Trump started running. Don't you think a ballot like that is too confusing?

They could have ended all of this simply by using write-in ballots.

tHE TRIB has had a right and a left wing OP-ED column for years, well before Taylor bought the paper.. I think he is doing well, has not changed very much and it is still mostly what it has been for decades.. I do get its sunday early edition way up here. An amazing bit of marketing i think. miss the late day sports scores and any late developments but most is very up to the minute..

At least two republicans are running against trump. How hard and how effective I have no idea..

Again, this ballot is only open to republicans..

to many running? well one more then the one you like is too many.. so in that vain I agree with you..

as to the dems, we had a couple dozen, now we have about 8 or 9 in the last debate.. did not watch so I am not sure..

The economy always has its ups and downs.. most not so bad but some, as the last one very severe.. we are due for a down turn but will probable be in 2021 and then the new Dem president will be blamed as before and have to do all the work of recovery. Like all the other times..

change the law.. now I have to confess that how this law became one and how to change it is a puzzle to me.. Part of a "how to" declaration decades ago I think.. I should contact my girl Amy and find out..

I see no obvious connection to the dems or the GOP.. the dem primary is super Tuesday, that will sort the players i think..

confusing... Yes, I would say it is. I see no solution, both GOP and Dems are seldom so filled with candidates.. should we have multiple primaries?? That would make the conventions redundant but I have seldom liked them anyway..

Fact.

Registered Republican and my ballot only had a Democrat with the box already checked.
Leftist are in denial regardless of evidence of California fraud over decades.
Philadelphia a hot room was raided, same in Florida with workers caught in the act filling out ballots with hundreds of thousands blank ballots but before they could complete they were busted (2016)

Do your research and step out of your programming.

I did not pay much attention to this for some time.. but now I have to be puzzeled..

The Minnesota republican party passed a rule that only trumps name can be on the primary ballot in Minnesota. no other names..

Now this is not so puzzling, run of the mill tactic by strong arm wanna be dictators..

But this is hard to swallow.. the Minnesota supreme court upheld the tactic and declined the suits to allow other names on the ballot of those running..

So what do any of you think of this result. the rights of any republican who wishes and gets the support and follows the requirement should be on the ballot. regardless of your personal support, this seems to me to be a real violation of election rules/ideals..

Minnesota Supreme Court rejects challenge to state GOP's Trump-only primary ballot
The quick ruling came in a case that threatened to disrupt the start of early primary voting next week.

The law had been challenged by James Martin, a Minnesota voter from Lake Elmo, and De La Fuente, a California businessman and long-shot candidate seeking the 2020 Republican nomination for president.

“We’re challenging basically a process that’s made a mockery of democracy,” said Minneapolis attorney Erick Kaardal, representing Martin and De La Fuente. “It’s very sad that we’re going to spend $12 million [in] March on the presidential primary and they’re going to have only one candidate on the GOP primary ballot.”
I did not pay much attention to this for some time... (show quote)

California tried that its unconstitutional and downright illegal it should and will be shot down

Well this post missed the mark...

I posted this not as against trump. Plenty of that for me to continue all day..

It is only about procedure, only a single name on the ballot, why bother to vote?

While I have to think the same rules apply to the Dems, I did not check out that rule..

And, this is about the primary election.. in Minnesota, last I checked to vote in the primary you can only do so if you are a registered GOP/Dem.. no cross voting..

Nothing to do with the general election or any political fight with Dems.. only Republican Vs republican.

Now that it was mentioned, are the trump people so insecure they must repress voting even in their own party, to protect the orange sanction they place over our nation?

So, stop worrying about your cult leader and think of the procedure being used. To protect a failing president??

It turns out that as I was not watching the new law was written and this is the first Primary under the new rules.. as I read some more, several court challenges are underway,. will not be changed for 2020 but looks as if it will be rewritten down the road.

I was, very surprised about this.. and now I am see that I miss a lot.
