Are you from English ancestry ? The reason I ask is because if you are, I am guessing that one of your ancestors likely sent a message to the colonists worded almost exactly the same as yours' is, just before the Boston Tea Party.

The only English connection I have is that my viking ancestors took the place over in 1066 or so..

I trust the tea party remark is a joke.. no real connection at all. but amusing..

Think for a moment on the consequence of a nation not paying its debts.. we would be in a depression as we have never experienced.. even our defense treaties would be gone..

And while a carbon tax would likely be the most efficient way to accomplish results in controlling CC, no one at the moment is proposing any form of carbon tax.. nor explanation of how it would work..

As for a tax on guns.. only referenced because a fellow coffee drinker mentioned the possibility as a last horrible political attempt , that no one could consider..

Relax, don't worry.. be happy.. thing will mellow out..

permafrost... You lost me on your "No one likes to pay tax,, but we have to do so. just like voting, it is an obligation of living in a wonderful nation.."...

Voting is not a USA "obligation"... It's a Right we can do or not do without any "obligation" attached...

When I read a person's mindset is this misled to start with, I stop reading and move-on - after explaining why I'm moving-on...

You are a strange creature to have such a bad belief and yet you do not leave this country.. I would suggest you go somewhere else and try to be happy..

the real Americans remain and do our patriotic duty.. serve and pay...

Hi archie,

The premise behind a carbon tax is that the tax, if applied per the desired process, would raise the price of the carbon fuel, with the tax proceeds being returned to the customer based on how much they purchased.
The added cost to the fuel business would not be recovered by the business. making the business less profitable and bringing alternative s more quickly to market.

Many of these proposals were bandied about so we would have to carefully read any particular plan to find if it was workable or not.. the word of "tax" in all these planes pretty much put an end to these efforts and I have not read of any proposed for a very long time..

I do not think we will ever see a Carbon Tax, it seems an idea which has run the course and has no chance of being enacted..

Weather.... After all the rain/snow we are now in to a Jan thaw with the coldest week of winter just past, we can anticipate warmth of spring any day LOL.. So the snow remains feet deep but the temp reaching the 30s for near 2 weeks, about 10 days to go.. if the weather man is right..

Have a nice day and keep posting..

Hey Permi,

As I sit beside my burning tire on this gorgeous Texas evening pondering your post, I can't help but think that you don't understanda lot of people.

Most, if not all folks I know conserve energy as much as possible because they would rather not have to pay high bills. I am one of them.

Also, most, not all people I know care about a clean environment.
Fact is, some people just don't care. Some companies just don't care since profit is their goal. That's why we need government regulation on them to a certain extent. But....it can't all come from DC.
I really hate the idea of a very few national politicians running my life. The locals are bad enough.

Lighten up on those of us who don't buy into the man made climate change thing. Hell, even Jesse Ventura doesn't buy it!

And I had a great day! 58 here, light to no wind, and people out everywhere. I broke the rules, and petted several dogs today while conversing with their owners, then got in trouble with mine when I got home.
After sniffing me up, and down, if the word whore was in their lexicon, they would have used it!
It was a great day to be a mailman!

I recently finished reading a biography on William the Conqueror. It was not only the Norman invasion that injected Viking Scandinavian blood into the British Isles. 2 or 3 centuries prior to that the Vikings had repeatedly conquered major parts of England.

The Tea Party joke was in response to your implying that taxes are not all that big of a deal. They can be a big frigging deal as evidenced by the fact that the American Revolution was in large part a reaction by the American Colonists to Oppressive English Taxes.

In fact human history is filled with conflicts and events fueled by high taxes. One of the more amusing events was the ride of Lady Godiva, which I suppose supports your view that high taxes always lead to good things.

Gee Archie, It is amazing how much you and I agree on and yet we are diametrically opposed.. gosh..

For instance, that I don't understand a lot of people... nothing could be truer..

And Yes, Jessie will forever be in my voting history.. but he was not so bad, better then I remember until I look him up.. he sent the state surplus back to us who paid it.. and nice checks for several years 3 i think..

But it did make a bad time in the next few years after in addition to his idea, the GOP cut taxes and the FDL spent money on things that had been delayed for years and years..

But now, all that dumb stuff seems like the good old days..

While this is days late.. I get worse as I get more jaded..

Have a good evening and tomorrow will be brighter.. the weather man said so..

Nah, the sun is still too low in the sky for that. Nearly made it to 50 today with light winds. Rain, sleet, high wind, and snow yesterday morning. Be high 60's' low 70's this weekend. Then back to cold, wind, and snow Tuesday.
If you wanna see what climate change looks like, come to the Texas Panhandle. We can have all four seasons in the same day here.

Seem one of the biggest effects up here is the insect population. warm winter nights do not kill them off, so ticks exploded and helped decimate the Moose population via disease..

With those "warm" winter nights only 10 below rather then 20 below we are basking???

Do you have ticks in Texas??? As everything in Texas is bigger, a Texas tick must be the size of a turkey..

Anyway, have a sunny day, we will see upper 30s on Sunday... it is all good

If you wish to know more about what your Scandinavian ancestors did in the British Isles before William the Conqueror, here is a brief summary.
