No facts, no matter how well sourced or corroborated will detract from the original beliefs.

I have no idea what you mean by rightists debating beliefs not facts! If anything it is the other way around! Actually, Most rightists are Christians, who take truths very seriously, since it is one of the Ten Commandments.

Over the years till today there are many scientists who are also Christians, and they wouldn't last long in that profession if only working on or with beliefs and not also a robust and in-depth basis in logic, facts and mathematics. Your long-standing idea is absurd!
