78 yrs ago WW2 lest we forget.
I recently wrote about mt timd with Jimmy Doolittle. He and my father had been friends for years. When Jimmy and his fellow bomber squads started the Flying Tiger's freight line, and after, his was their attorney.
I was a ten year old during WW 2 and we kids played war on a farm. We took turns being leader and Ike, MacArthur, Nimitz, and other leaders were names we took if we were the war leader of a day.
After Doolittle's raid over Tokyo.he was added to the list. Had and his crews had done such heroic bombings we nicknamed him Gen "Doalot".
My twn David and I went back to Japan in 1952. We had lived there right after the war in 1947. While there we met many famous people. One day we ate with our parents and Jimmy Doolittle.
During the meal father told him about our nikname. He replied, as so many leaders, who are humble have said "I was just doing my job."
After my father recived international peace awards from Emperor Hirohito of Japan and Queen Elizabeth he called me and said what a great father I had. I remembered what he said so I told him that he was doing his job. He had met other relatives and replied that we Logans all have a great sense of humor and. do so much for others.
Thanks for the original Post. I hope they enjoy their liquor!!!
