But what is the truth?

with what seems like a never ending effort, changing of information, paper work and the true status becomes very much a formidable paper wall to those legal immigrants who trump claims to be valuable immigrants desired by the nation

some facts on the further results of the real reprobate in the oval office..

In the two years after Trump took office, denials for H1Bs, the most common form of visa for skilled workers, more than doubled. In the same period, wait times for citizenship also doubled, while average processing times for all kinds of visas jumped by 46 percent, even as the quantity of applications went down. In 2018, the United States added just 200,000 immigrants to the population, a startling 70 percent less than the year before.

Before Trump was elected, there was virtually no support within either party for policies that make it harder for foreigners to come here legally. For decades, the Republican consensus has favored tough border security along with high levels of legal immigration. The party’s small restrictionist wing protested from the margins, but it was no match for a pro-immigration coalition encompassing business interests, unions and minority groups. In 2013, then-Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions introduced an amendment that would have lowered the number of people who qualified for green cards and work visas. It got a single vote in committee—his own. As a former senior official at the Department of Homeland Security observed, “If you told me these guys would be able to change the way the U.S. does immigration in two years, I would have laughed.”

For 35 years the republicans only talk about immigration laws when a democrat is in Office or during the campaign cycle If Trump supporters ever read the comprehensive immigration reform bill sponsored by Obama passed in the senate on a bi-partisan vote and then blocked by Boehner in the house maybe they would understand what democrats firmly believe and it’s not open borders.
Trump supporters refuse to read legislation.

What democrats say and what they practice are not the same. They say they do not want open borders but support sanctuary cities to protect those who enter illegally.

I have long heard that Republicans supported lawful immigration and I suspect the whiter the immigrant the more support you will find they have for them. I would be more than happy if they proved me wrong but I'm not going to lose any sleep waiting for it...

No, it is because they are white. Your idiot Pumpkinfuhrer suggested that we needed more immigrants from a socialist nation where a majority are progressive atheists, Denmark. While he is working to block people from Latin America who are deeply religious Christians, family oriented and want to come here to peruse the capitalist American dream for their families. One it’s face their is only one reason for this, racism.

I hate to break it to you, there, Kevyn, but for several decades now it's been infinitely more difficult for white folks from western countries to immigrate to the United States than it's been for people from non-white third world countries.

Therefore, the bulk by far of immigrants to America have been non-whites from third world countries.

The funny thing about this is that immigration law written to pacify southern racists included family unification to prevent people of color from immigrating. In time this backfired on the racists.

They definitely are and have been for many years now. It used to be they could just apply but for a long time now it's been the lottery system and limitation.

Kinda blows your entire religious preference crap out of the water. How do you know why they want to come here? They take way more than they give. If they had any pride or fortitude they would fight and change the very country they come from. We need immigrants that add skills not more leeches like you.

You're the only racist on this thread kevy. Certainly "people of color" can't and aren't racist, just white people.

Well stated bro...

I don't think there is any room for doubt, especially after studying the history of immigration policy in the U.S.

Trump and his minions have made it so obvious that it makes me wonder about the people that continue to support his policies. Are they racist, ignorant or indifferent? Those seem to be the only possible choices.

In your piece you said that before Trump there was no one in either party who wanted to make immigration more difficult. Does that include Obama, Schummer, Pelosi, Bill Clinton and George Bush??
