I think they realized they had nothing to offer the voters that also think. The irrational Demos decided to try a long shot by gathering a collection of Trump enemies to fabricate false testimony for impeachment.
Pelosi knew the risk if it didn't sell and was a reluctant victim of the new irrational left. It appears she was right as it seems the fake evidence makes the project the best fundraiser Trump ever had.

Trump thinks he's above the law. All Nasty Nancy is doing is what Republicans don't have the balls to do and that's stand up for the constitution. And don't worry, Republicans don't have the stones to do what's right so the Senate will let him go. That way Trump and the Republican party will be exposed for what they are and we can vote the whole lot of them out in 2020...

And here's something else, if you could have impeached Obama on anything at all you would have impeached him in a heartbeat. Don't talk to us about divisiveness when you were the definition of divisive under both Clinton and Obama.

It is interesting all of this whining about a devised nation and how to fix it when the solution is obvious. If Trump is held accountable for his crimes, Impeached and removed from office, as the solution prescribed for criminals in high office in our constitution Mike Pence becomes president. Pence is not only a strict conservative, he was hand picked by Trump. The idea that the very proper impeachment process is some sort of Overthrow is laughable at best. Trump has and is dividing the country, his removal and prosecution will start the healing process.
