My biggest concern about dying is possible overcrowding on the other side: Earth has, supposedly, 6 million years of dead stuff
I like my space, my alone time. Becoming one with the all as in Eastern Religions does not sound appealing. I like the Christian idea of our own mansion, as long as we can hire good, cheap help. But is it our own mansion, no one staying over indefinitely because of our endless feast? We can't even guess if there will be a pool or central air and heating. Or maybe it is like the Ethernet, endless. One can only pray this is so.
And who or what gets invited? Who knows if it is just us over there, I mean as homo sapiens sapiens? What of our evolutionary ancestral roots? Boorish, ill-mannered, and uncouth relatives? Possibly cannibals. Their hygiene will be terrible.
Trying to get a bigger perspective, I feel dogs should definitely have a place, in proper kennels of course. Cats, well, I think that they are debatable. Primates and dolphins? Something of a case, if sentience is a criteria on whatever level. Mother-in-laws? Best not comment. Liberals? Conservatives? Who knows if it depends on some sort of judgment on entry. Any guesses anyone?
Okay, I see that I have let this concern rest. There is only faith to consider and the rest is fear and absurd.

When I was a young boy I told my father I wanted to go to heaven...
He asked why I wanted to go somewhere full of Christians, Jews and Muslims? Never a day's peace...

Don't forget that what goes to Heaven is the essential being of each person, not their old crippled bodies and there is plenty of space for all who are welcomed into God's kingdom. The essential dogs would also be there, free to run and play, and, since their essense doesn't defficate, you would not have to clean up after your essential dog. Hopefully you wouldn't have to do your laundry either, your heavenly garment wold never get dirty.

If you believe that there are infinitely many worlds in the universe, what might God do with good souls? Perhaps each soul would be sent on a mission to help some remote planet's people improve their lot. Exceptional people are rare, but we have had a goodly number.

I see no reason to reject the concept that there are many planets in God's universe and that the souls of good people might be sent to different planets as guides. They might be sent in new bodies as preachers, saints or prophets to guide other people into Gods family. That actually makes sense to me. Perhaps these souls would each have with them a dog as their comforter and to remind them of all of Gods gifts.

Yes, thank you, npp, I agree. Just having a little light-hearted fun. Maybe my heavenly garment and my dog will be self-cleaning. Cross your fingers.
