I wonder if NPP has any stats on this type of thing? How often does this happen?

He and SHMBO work very hard on related issues..

I will watch for him..

It truly is...

And the fact that there are those who support them (in growing numbers) is frightening...

There are times I an glad I live where I do...

Deb, while I agree with what everyone said about this proposed law.. It seems to be one more unneeded and misdirected action..

In no state, not even Georgia can any child make the decision to change sex..

"Georgia law currently allows minors to receive surgery and prescription medicine if a parent consents."

Also, per the posted article, the bill has not yet been authored..

No child should be given any operations which have such a huge affect on their later life..

But I think this one is much ado about nothing..

What kind of parent would force a child to undergo unneeded surgery of any kind?

Seems a great many of us become outraged and alarmed over imagined actions..

There is nothing wrong with the legislature getting ahead of things by passing this law.

It may seem unnecessary to some, but what if this father had not been against the gender change and had gone along with what his wife wanted to do to their child? They could have done a lot of irreversible damage to this child before any of the current laws caught up with them.

Point taken..

But after thinking about this a bit, as the law is being written, does it account for the rare case when a child needs this type or any type of surgery or will it only address gender change..

I do not recall that being considered in the posting..

If it is not addressed, then that's something for the people of GA to bring up to their legislators, I would think.

If not, lawyers can often find some way to work around whatever the law states, especially under special circumstances of some kind.

I don't like lawyers much but give them credit for creativity.

Sorry you think its imagination. But if you have little kids wanting attention or to be "special" by being trans or whatever, and you have "woke" parents, it is a HUGE problem, as the case in Texas. Should there not be laws against abuse? There are laws against parents spanking their children, but no laws against the parents giving consent for an unnecessary life changing surgery and drugs?. You aren't taking this issue seriously enough.

While I can not conceive of a parent doing this to a child, It seems that indeed some have..

I can not really express how awful and senseless this is to me..

the proposed law may not be perfect in wording, but go for it...

The whole attitude dates back to Obama's encouraging a lack of morals and common sense. Open bathrooms and dressing rooms, sexual deviation, sexual alteration, and men competing in women's sports are all part of the new norm. It is completely insane to allow empty headed parents to arrange irreversible surgery on a child because a teacher told the kid it would be fun. I understand quite a few transgender victims are already wishing they could reverse the process.
