The so called reconstructors did not do a whole lot of reconstructing, they mostly stirred up racial hatred.
Lincoln was killed by the radical republicans because he did not follow their wishes. Lincoln was a racist and a white supremacist. He stated in one of his speeches that the blacks were an inferior race and did not deserve the right to vote. His plan was to ship them all back to Africa. That was another reason for his assasination. Reconstruction period was over in 1877 for all of the south except South Carolina. S.C. got out in1876 which was an election year. S.C. told the north it would cast all its electoral votes for Rutherfordd B. Hayes if in return they would get their troops to hell out of South Carolina. They did

That was then and this is now. The Democrats formed the KKK and have ever since been using blacks for their own advantage, first as impoverished former slaves to still be used, to Lyndon Johnson buying their subservience with welfare money and re-enslaving them to now where with a little hope, they are finally starting to get smarter and coming back to the Republican Party that originally freed them.
