Very good post, MR Mister. I, too, agree whole-heartedly. I was a Democrat all of my life until 2002, when I received a very pointed notice from Richard Gephardt reprimanding me for not filling out a survey he had sent. His letter read like something from the Kremlin, not from DC! It warned me that in order for the Party to determine if I was a "good Democrat," then I had to accept their policies without question; think along the terms of their agenda and agree totally with their policies! I got so angry that I looked up Gephardt's name online and sure enough, he was mentioned in the websites of the DSAUSA and the CPUSA as being an individual whose policies those two groups supported. The DSAUSA even bragged about how they have made such inroads into the "traditional" Democrat Party and would soon be able to control it. Not being a Socialist nor a Communist, I did not answer Gephardt's survey, stuffed it into his return envelope along with printouts of the comments of the DSAUSA and the CPUSA and told them to remove my name from the Democrat Party rolls immediately, since I would no longer consider myself a Democrat if they were espousing Socialism and Communism. I also told him exactly where to stuff his survey. As far as I am concerned, and it is being proven more and more these days... a vote for the Democrat Party today would be a vote for Socialism and/or Communism. I shall never vote Democrat again for as long as Socialists and Communists are within its ranks.

Absolutely ridiculous but it shows it's what you chose to believe and it's exactly what Trump feeds in his campaigning, the right has been choosing this strategy since Bush junior, back then they attached Liberal to Democrats, to try and stop people from flowing from the right to the left, this is when we began to see the expansion of the unaffiliated/ independent voter, personally I think that's a good thing. It is the "party" mentality that is dividing us, and we're pining Americans against Americans once again.

I wouldn't leave a party over one person's inappropriate actions. Gephardt was one man working locally, he didn't represent many Democrats.

Trump, on the other hand, represents the entire country, at least he's supposed to. In his attempts to disenfranchise Democrats from their party he did something very similar, he took Jews and tried to insult and shame them into leaving their party, just as the "right" continues on the slander of calling All Democrats communists and socialists. Now you have become their working tool spreading the same lying propaganda. I'll tell you what you show me an average hard-working (self-employed especially) joe democrat who is willing to give up and hand over his pay, to have it ALL pooled and redistributed evenly, you find me him and I'll retract what I just wrote.

Here's a clue for you, religious rights do not supersede our civil rights, our civil rights and the laws of the land come first. This is what stops some of the outrageous harmful act to be allowed and put into motion. For example, Muslims are not allowed to emasculate young girls or kill women in the USA.

Under our democracy, a shop owner does not get to attach their religious beliefs and bias to their merchandise. At the purchase, the shop owner has no rights over it, it is not their property any longer.
