Let's talk about hate

Back when I was nine, one Saturday me and my friend Jimmy Forlong biked out of our very safe community and were confronted by some eleven year old kids from our school. The four of them were all bigger than us. They said they would destroy our bikes if we did not march back and forth through this big puddle. (That is how serious it seemed to get 1959.) We did it as they relentlessly ranked us sissies and cowards, laughing all the time.

On that Monday I talked to some guys in the eighth grade that were good friends with my older brother, one of the most popular kids in the school now in HS. I only said, “Convince them to apologize.” We got that by end of classes. This just meant to be illustrative.

I did not hate. I have gotten angry, of course, but never to the point of hate. I do not and never have hated anyone person, place, or thing. Do you have to pull a weed to hate it? If you knew surely of a traitor, why would you turn him in? Because you hated him or because you loved America and wanted to protect her? Having one of your children make a mistake? Do you have to hate them?

Calling any critic of Trump a “hater” is meant to thoroughly undermine their view. Hate is irrational, its usual substance a resentment, a previous grievance, jealousy, or whatever, but not fact. Or, nothing to do with the reality or evidence about Trump's egregious actions and words.

What really is hate for this political debate? Sacrificing the well-being, image, and future of this country to score partisan appeal and support from voters, or just from pure narcissistic entitlement. Can you get more scandalous? Disparaging all critique commentary as hate against Trump, essentially undermining or destroying our bicameral system,is the Right way to destroy our country.

You certainly have your perceptions reversed. Trump is regularly and incorrectly called Hitler, a traitor, a serial rapist, a moron, a racist, a Nazi, a white supremacist, a misogynist, a homophobe and an insane maniac. Trump critics seem not to consider any of this hate speech but when Trump defends himself against these charges or when a Trumpster rightly condemns this type of talk, Trump critics call that hate speech; it isn't.

I have no problem with criticism of Trump (or any other figure).... Such is fine....

But the blind reactions of many go far beyond criticism...It truly is hate...

That is a most unwelcome addition to discussion/debate...

Hope you are well

You were 9 and said ‘convince them to apologize’. Thats highly doubtful

Your posts regularly ooze hate. It has nothing to do with criticizing Trump.

Curious. Please give some sites that Trump was ever called by the Left...sorry He has been called all these things:" Hitler, a traitor, a serial rapist, a moron, a racist, a Nazi, a white supremacist, a misogynist, a homophobic and an insane maniac." Does not quite sum up Trump's personality but a good start.

I am well and you make a great point: blind reactions! No thought, no reason, no listening, no doubt. Way too funny and obscenely scary. Just put a drop of fear in a beaker and you have a Republican.

You make assumptions and condemn: how quaint. My older brother was an attorney, had that mind. He taught me a lot about everything; we were very close. I read The Iliad at eight. Such an education for you seems impossible. Sad!

But it is like the Right to undermine and attack an individual instead of dealing with the extremely-hard-to-refute-or-defend-truth about their Leader.

The hate you claim to see in any criticism of Trump is from evidence based audio and video of his lies, misconceptions, hate, narcissism, stupidity, et cetera. No hate is needed to call this anti-American to task.

I feel like I am in an alternate not very nice, scary, and disgusting universe where this perfect piece of crap Trump is supported. Unfreakingimaginable! What was the opposite planet in Superman: Bizzaro?

Lol, that seems like hate. The words could be expressions of hate. But for me, reporting on this dirtbag's actions is like covering a drug exchange from a major cartel: no hate, justice.

Vague accusations and impugning character: Forget that I once considered you a good and decent person. If there is hate to talk about, you've shown it here against me. Typical Right assassination of character for political gain. Very, very disappointing.

If you want to say I regularly "ooze hate," show proof or shut up. Again, your response hurt.

You may have read the Iliad but you are clearly unable to read and interpret posts on this blog or audio and video of Trump and yes, your writings are hate filled name callings, not criticisms.

If so, show me, please. Find one "name-calling." Or any hate? Or shut up with your Far Right attempt at slander. A typical tactic.

Read the posts of these:

Pay particular attention to name calling hateful messages. If you want me to highlight them I will, but it's pretty obvious:

factnotfiction
Lonewolf
Kevyn
PeterS
Kemmer
AirforceOne

For the record...Moldyoldy, Slatten, Woodguru, PeterS and other lefties that can hold their own in decent, respectful conversations here are appreciated and good debaters here.

Thank you, but what is your point? Block them? Disown them? What?

A lot of them have very solid posts and a few just resort most of the time to ad hominem. What are you asking, Emily?
