Haggai chapter 1

Verse 1

Babylon is finished. They have been conquered by the Medes and Persians. Cyrus would authorize the Jews to return to Jerusalem. God is in control. He named Cyrus 200 years before he was born.

Verse 2 - 6

God wants the temple rebuilt. He is sending tough situations until they do.First He sends the tough situation. Then He wants the Jews to consider why. When we go thru negative situations, ask what you can do to prevent the situation from reoccuring. If you don’t want to go thru it again.
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water, He turneth it withesoever He will.
Proverbs 21:1

Verse 7 - 11

God wants the inhabitants of Jerusalem to think. God appeals to intellect.

Verse 12 - 15

They start rebuilding the temple that Nebuchadneezer destroyed.
