Your reasoning isn't the same as mine, end result though yes they are happy. 2 reasons 1. a dumb one and it wasn't followed, would have let them push the anti-gun narrative. 2. more importantly any shot no pun they can get at the other side now is needed.

NOBODY takes a gun a goes around randomly shooting strangers because they read something in a book of political philosophy alone - unless already mentally broken, emotionally unbalanced and socially inept enough to have no counterweight to their solitary fixations. To think all these mass killings in non-revolutionary times are anything but a sign of how dire the mental health crisis (especially of young people) has become in the US (a country with a mile wide culture of violence and paranoia to its record already) is counterproductive af. Social polarization might help direct broken people to psychotic ends, but it is not the ultimate motive.
