Few global trends have been as controversial as climate change and the Earth’s warming. The Earth has gone through many shifts in cooling and warming driven by natural factors like the sun’s energy or variations in its orbit, but the trend scientists have seen over the past 50 years is unmistakable.

Let’s take a closer look: globally, average surface temperatures increased 1.1—1.6 degrees Fahrenheit (0.6—0.9 degrees Celsius) between 1906 and 2005. However, it’s the rate of temperature change that’s especially troubling to scientists; temperatures have risen nearly twice as fast in the last 50 years alone.

What other ways has our climate system changed in the last century? How do we really know our climate is changing permanently, rather than just going through a normal period of flux? Between opinions from climate deniers and misinformation campaigns from the fossil fuel industry, it can be a challenge to get the unobstructed facts.

So to help set the record straight, we’re going to focus on 10 major changes scientists have seen in our climate system. Each indicator described below has been extensively studied over the past several decades, and was captured from many different data sets and technologies.

Unable to copy and paste the charts that clearly show global warming. Go here if you are really interested in the truth about climate change: https://www.climaterealityproject.org/blog/10-indicators-that-show-climate-change

It’s difficult to argue against what’s happening once you’ve seen these 10 climate change indicators. That’s why it’s up to each and everyone one of us to do our part and help spread truthful information about climate change to our networks of friends, peers, and family members.

Remember, it's named climate change and not climate catastrophe. The earth's climate has been changing every day of its existence. I don't know what these numbers mean because I don't think this is enough data to understand the trends properly (this is only 50-60 years of data and the earth is billions of years old). And, just like all numbers they can be manipulated to suite your (as well as mine) needs. I want to see the numbers for these 10 items for more than the 50-60 years depicted (charted) before I go off the deep end or raise any out of control level of concern. No doubt these trends are worthy indicators. In other words, I believe these numbers are correct, but I want to compare them to other 50-60 year periods (if that data is available). NASA at https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/world-of-change/DecadalTemp indicates that "The world is getting warmer." (1.4° Fahrenheit since 1880. Two-thirds of the warming has occurred since 1975) And that the "cause is human activity or natural variability—and the preponderance of evidence says it’s humans" which means we have the opportunity to change current trends.

There are also some who question/criticize the science behind current computer models that must also be considered. Climate change has a wide range and varying degree of viewpoints and levels of concern - all worthy trends and points to ponder.

Climate change - or as discussed on a daily basis today called the Green New Deal (which calls for the United States to switch to 100% renewable energy in 10 years https://tinyurl.com/y655d5ov) - is going to be a politically charged subject for the next presidential election. Here are two very interesting climate change videos that contain some riveting and noteworthy information:

1st) This is a very entertaining, one hour video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZlICdawHRA by conservative Steven F. Hayward for Hillsdale University in 2014 lecturing on the hysteria of global warming. On his blog it states, "Hayward concludes that the 97% consensus is inaccurate and that renewable energy such as wind and solar is not the answer.”

Hayward is a great speaker with lots of personality and KEEPS A DRY SUBJECT INTERESTING. He claims that climate models are inaccurate, and that global warming is in a pause state. He calls environmentalist “Climatistas”. Information on climate models can be found by clicking here.

2nd) In the following 14minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fA5sGtj7QKQ Mark Levin interviews Dr. Patrick Michaels, director of the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute. Michaels provides insight into the debate over climate change and the political games played to create policy.

Dr. Michaels says that global warming cannot be caused by humans. Additionally, he also says that ALL climate computer models (there are 32) ARE WRONG, except for the Russian model - which according to Michaels is the model that should be used. He proclaims that all 31 are “fudged”. (In my day fudged would mean hide or lie about what really happened).

Dr. Michaels goes on to say that it's the SCIENTIST instead of science which is driving the models. (The scientist are inputing wrong parameters instead of real life, actual, i.e. measurable - parameters). So, assuming this is true, it would mean scientist are concealing or misleading us on the truth of climate change - PURPOSELY. He says scientist cherry pick the data used which skews the results for their purposes, which, according to Michaels, is what the Obama Administration scientist did.

There is no denying science on man made climate change. It is megligible and the science the so called 97% has been disproven time and time again. Sorry, but you're striking out again. But you should be used to it.

I didn't respond to you about Trump. That was directed elsewhere. I understand your graphs and have seen them many times. There are also many graphs showing the cyclical nature of earth's historic climate. We are nearing the end of a natural warming cycle, hence the warming trends. But it was warmer in the 1930s. I also showed many graphs showing that this historic warming period in running parallel to a huge increase in humanity. As far as CO2, it is no where near historic records. On graphs showing long term climate change going back thousands of years, clearly shows that CO2 increases follow warming trends. In the 1990s the climate change fanatics were claiming that the Arctic ice would disappear. It increased for a time and is still there. Antarctic ice thickness increased. They also claimed that we would get many more hurricanes. They historically decreased in the next ten years.

There is an agenda to control your lives with huge taxes on carbon. Nonsense. Part of it is driven by energy neutral means of energy. But they have grossly miscalculated the overall costs of these ideas over the lifetime of their useful life and costs of raw materials. The facts are out there. I'm not going to spend all day doing your research and that of others.

I got into this to show how the problem on humans influences are not about our excess use of energy, and there is some, (I haven't had an air conditioner for over 45 years and am quite comfortable in the mid to high 80s. I acclimate. Do you? Where is your air conditioner setting right now? Under 79 or 80 is excessive) I mainly disbelieve it based on many lectures and reading on the issue and my own connection I made to the overall increase of humanity. In other words, quit breeding at the current levels, bring it down to two children per female and the worries of global warming will slowly disappear. Economics of efficiency will take care most of the rest and quit all personal excess of energy use. Like air conditioning. Sorry, but I need to throw that in. I'm sick of being cold or in a cold draft, indoors, all summer due to excesses. I waited all winter to be warm and now we get constant bitching about normal cycles.

Well put, rafterman. IMHO: When the "climatistas" go off on their illogical tangents, maybe they should consider another way to solve their perceived problem with the changing climate of the planet - - hmmm, the People are the only ones that seem to have this problem of arguing about the changing climate, which is a natural phenomenon, so maybe we just have too many People. If we just get rid of all the People, the argument will no longer exist and Mother Earth can get on with her planet sculpting project. See how easy it was to solve the perceived climate change problem?

The climatistas are frantically looking for a problem to satisfy their socialist economic redistribution of wealth goals and pipe-dreams, and they are trying very hard to brainwash reasonable people to their way of thinking; that's just what the Progressives do, caring less about end results and unintended consequences like failure due to running out of money when the workers all board their train, famine, disease, and etc. If these Elite Progressives do succeed and end up with all the money in the world, if there is nothing left to buy with it due to no longer having any working bodies to provide anything, what good will it be to them? Political Correctness, Name Calling, and Insanity seem to be closely coupled to these people, but Common Sense seems to elude them.

Since the AVERAGE warming trend peaked out around 2005-2007 we are now moving downward on the 200 year cycle toward colder weather maybe we should hang onto our long underwear and heavy coats. Our major source of energy is the SUN, so look to the sun for an idea of what to expect, but 50-60 years worth of data is just a chuckhole in the hopefully long road to the future. The book "Dark Winter" was a good read concerning this subject. Al Gore and his tribe are just trying to line their pockets with money at our expense, and the Career Politicians use it to stir the masses against President Trump and the USA.

Shame on them all! However, never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups (such as Congress)! To do so will be at our peril! All the past war mongers were smooth talkers with low morals and no conscience, just like the Progressives of today, so don't fall for their agitprop. We need to think for ourselves, not follow false leaders!

The weather changes, we've been under a polar vortex for about 5 years, there are always variables in the weather. Climate however, when you see a complete ice age advancing yell (we recently-a relative term) left one so I don't think you have to worry about another.

Exactly proving the facts of this insanely political propaganda. Humans are heating up their local environment. And poisoning their local environment. Thus humans are killing themselves, locally. The planet is doing it's own thing, and will regardless of what we do. Except for nuclear war.. That's going to change everything!

Nobody is denying that the climate is changing, because that's what climate does. Our relationship to the sun and other factors contribute to this, have from the beginning of time and will continue to do so.

This is a phenomenon that would occur whether man was around or not.

Whenever a portside pundit "tries to convince us" that Earth's climate is changing, what he's/she's really doing is unspokenly alluding to the anthropogenic angle, which is a globalist hoax.

But by all means, if that's your shtick, enjoy yourself. 😁

It's good to see that you understand climate change and that the trend up until the mid 90's is warming. The issue is that climate change alarmists claim it's caused by CO2 levels rising as a result of man, which is not correct. A look at the scientific evidence show that in the past hundreds of thousands of years there have been periodic warming periods, all of which show that CO2 levels rose AFTER the warming, not before, by as much as 200 to 800 years. Thus, CO2 was not the cause but later might have been a contributor. Thus and again, then, it stands to reason that we are in one of those warming periods which probably actually started 200 to 800 years ago. And we haven't been monitoring temps for that long and only recently are we seeing the need to correct for inaccurate monitoring.

In actuality, we are in the tail end of an ice age of sorts. The periods of having any ice anywhere at all are about 2/3 of the hundreds of thousands of years and we are, indeed, moving back to that norm.

So, no matter what we do we cannot stop it. Gradually, more and more of those "scientists" of the "consensus" are realizing, by actually objectively looking at the evidence, that this is what is actually happening.

Far more than it is has ever been, according to ice cores taken from the Arctic and Greeland and Antarctica

Very informative, and you may be right. My question is this: why make it political as so many do on both sides? The future of the planet, of our loved ones, may be at stake: let science figure it out!
