Yeah, I know it's facebook.
Close to it, but I nailed the rooster attacking me with a kick. He got up, stumbled away and left me alone.
At my age I dream of a chick chasing me.
Years ago, in the late 150's, baby chicks used to be given to children as Easter gifts. Although illegal now, it was determined that most of these chicks died due to improper care. But not all of them died. I was given two baby chicks. They were appropriately housed in a coop and feed chicken feed. They were also handled every day and became gentle pets who allowed you to hold and pet them, even as full-grown white leghorn roosters. They'd come up to people of their own accord for petting or treats. Since we lived in the city and they had started crowing, they had to be sent to live in barns (different farms) and were never slaughtered for a meal as they quickly endeared themselves to those farmers and families. My sister had a pair of bantams that were also tame (they lived on a farm), but unfortunately, foxes got them. We have a coop with 5 hens out here. Two of them were hand raised and the Rhode Island red will actually accompany my sister and ride around on the front seat next to her and appears to enjoy the ride. I think chickens are smarter than most people give them credit for.
I have never seen so many chickens in my life.
My neighbor's grandkids were terrified of my chicken. She only ran at them because she thought they had food. They were terrified none the less...
Some time ago had a pet rooster, very calm and friendly.
One thing, his clock was off.
Often start crowing in the middle of the night.

I too was terrified of chickens at an early age. One time, while at my grandparent's farm, my grandma sent me out with table scraps (I was probably five years old around that time) for the chickens. I intended to just throw the stuff over the fence, thinking they were penned in the chicken yard.
Unfortunately for me, and realizing too late, they weren't penned. Seeing that flock of chickings running towards me, I became petrified with fear and unable to move. To this day, I don't recall how I got out of that situation. Someone must have rescued me, for they knew how I feared chickens.

I'm sure they had chickens in 150 - 159 AD.

I meant 1950's. Either way, I'm getting old.
Those were some mean assed chickens but I never had that problem and my grandma had a farm with chickens and geese and a pig plus a large garden.
Most birds and mammals can be pretty tame depending on how they're raised. But NOT Muscovy ducks. Those things'll turn on you in a flash!
And they're really about the UGLIEST ducks I've ever seen. I have a preference for mallards.
