The Bible reacts to Trump's speech before crowd of Young Conservatives

Here is what it had to say: “It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.” (Luke17:2) Yet he did it anyway.

What the president had to say at the Turning Point Conference was appalling. A whiny tirade about his hate for four Congresswoman of color filled with lies, groundless attacks on Mueller, along with the hint that there are far more sinister Democrats to be named. What did he expect to inspire in these youths besides prejudice and divisiveness? Nothing else is the answer. It was a total disgrace.

No word about creating a better future for all American citizens and this country. No word about striving to achieve firm integrity and high moral standards. No mention at all about God and goodness. Not a word about service to this great nation and its values. Nothing to inspire a young heart and mind to greater heights of personal growth and maturity. Nothing of any worth whatsoever except to Trump, wiping up a radical frenzy for his needed dose of ego-gratification at the crowd's expense "to stumble" cheering his biased rancor. This showed he cared absolutely nothing about their hearts, minds, or futures. Sad!

You quote parts of the Bible when it suits your TDS agenda and the rest of the time you ignore it. You accuse trump of causing children to stumble while you celebrate the murder of over 60 million unborn children.

Look, you do not know me. I have written several threads AGAINST abortion, as well as numerous comments on other threads AGAINST abortion. If you do not believe me, do a search.

I do not ignore the Bible: I use it when necessary fastidiously.

Having a conscience and speaking to power is not TDS, except to Trump and his supporters.

I find myself in agreement with you here...I would have preferred a much different speech as well...

Although I didn't find racism in his wording...

Thank you, CD. Sorry, did I mistakenly say racism. I did say discrimination.

You use the Bible as a political weapon. Whenever you feel your tirades need the support of an authority that you think cannot be challenged, you whip out a Bible verse.

I wonder if Almighty God is pleased about that.

Am I wrong? Wasn't his remarks stumbling blocks for those young people? You nearly always look to insult me or tear me down. So of course you believe my intentions are wrong. Yet I will take some time to see if you are right.

Why don't you use your quote in reference to drag queen story hours indoctrinating young children into transgenderism or the LGBT+P lifestyle like what it should truly be applied to?

Your "understanding" of the Bible is suspect at best!

When will guys ever just stick to the topic instead of constant misdirection and digression? Is it your point for me to address all possibilities that quote would be appropriate before I can use it on this tread? Drag Queens is another issue entirely. If that concerns you, create a thread about, but by your logic, make sure every issue possibly involving stumbling blocks for children are included.

I read the complete address. The video is an echo of that appalling speech. Very much like his bizarre talk to the Boy Scouts of America. Nothing uplifting or inspiring for good. What did you hope to gain by posting it? Tell me what you see in the video that rebuts or contradicts my assessment. Give me one decent line from this Trump speech that speaks to values and principles and ideals for our youth to aspire to. Show me one line about about the need for virtue and integrity in their personal growth. This speech is a bilious regurgitation of vile hate and divisiveness that has marked Trump's entire presidency. And I am being kind.

Your obtuseness knows no bounds. You took the bible passage you used erroneously and out of context. THAT was my point.

Too funny and typical. Oh, and I hope my "obtuseness knows" some bounds.

How is it erroneous and out of context? Explain, if you can, or just groundlessly accuse. Offering a single chapter and verse form the Bible is not taking something out of context if it is wholly pertinent to a particular subject by its representation or summary of that context, in this case corrupting children.

I didn't realize that Trump was talking to 5-year olds at the Turning Point Conference.
