it was obvious if you listened to the flub. He halted realizing that he hadn't yet visited all the states nor would he be visiting ALL 50, but rather only the 48 contiguous states and that he still had one left to go. when he went to pick it back up, instead of acknowledging the flub and starting to state the number from scratch, he tried to fix it by stating the "7" that would have went well had he started by saying forty, instead of fifty. A simple mistake to make in a speech. To make up historical events that not only never happened, they COULDN'T happen, not an easy mistake to make, especially when talking about 18th century events with 20th century additions. I would have been far more charitable of he were talking about a late 19th century event with early 20th century additions.

Yes, of course. If Trump tells an obvious lie, he simply misspoke, if Obama makes an easily explainable numeric faux pas, he actually believes something that NOBODY believes. Some mistakenly believe that there are 52 states, I even ran across some that have said that we have 48 and others still that believe the number stands at 49, NOBODY has EVER stated that we have 57 states, yet according to you two, Obama actually believes that we have 57 states, even though NOBODY else does. Partisan much?

As for Trumps revolution era airports... 1776 is 127 years BEFORE the first successful flight. Could the great depression have been caused by a computer hacker exploiting a Microsoft Windows vulnerability? Why didn't our Korean war and Vietnam veterans have the common courtesy to call home more frequently on their iPhones to keep their families from worrying? That or at least send an E-mail or Skype with their loved ones once in a while to assure them that they were safe. No less foolish than Trump's revolution era airports.

Actually, the first manned flight took place on November 21, 1783. I guess it all depends on what you call an airport.

Hot air balloons require no airport as I mentioned before, either on this thread or another. Besides, when one thinks "airport" they typically think of planes, hot air balloons aren't even typically allowed near airports and helicopters have their own designated areas in and around airports. Helicopters also don't require an airport as they don't require a runway since they, like hot air balloons take off vertically not horizontally.

Since there were no fixed wing or rotary aircraft at the time, any balloon launch site could be called an airport if something manned took to the air there.

It's a stretch but not as big or damning as adding 7+ states to the union. If you are vying for leadership of a nation, you really should know its geography. You said nothing then. Try to be less hypocritical now.

So, now you have inflated this beyond reason and are accusing president Trump of deliberately lying when he said, "they took the airports"? Is that what you are saying?

Geez, ya know, I've been thinking about that. During an hour long message saluting America and honoring Americans, why would he insert a quick lie at that specific moment? For what purpose? What was to be gained? I am hard pressed to come up with a wild answer, much less a reasonable one.

Well, let's see. Throughout his life as a businessman and now as president, Donald Trump has traveled all over the United States and all over the world. He doesn't travel to all of these places by car or bus or train. Nope, he flies. He flew often and everywhere in his own jet and he flies often on Marine One and Air Force One. And, where does he go to board an aircraft and where does he deplane after the aircraft lands? Last I heard, airplanes usually take off and land at AIRPORTS. I imagine then that AIRPORTS are a rather important, even vital, aspect of his travels. I reckon he is quite familiar with AIRPORTS.

Moreover, during the last half of his message, he talked about America's AVIATION pioneers--Orville and Wilbur, Rickenbacker, Doolittle, Earhart, Yeager, and about our Astronauts--Glenn, Armstrong.

And he praised the five branches of our armed forces. As he concluded his remarks about each one, he announced that we would witness a FLY OVER by AIRCRAFT operated by each branch of service. Anywhere from three to five AIRCRAFT of all types FLEW over the mall. First to FLY OVER were the Coast Guard AIRCRAFT, then came those of the AIR FORCE, then the Navy, Marines, and finally the US Army (who "took over the airports")

Yep, by the time the US Army AIRCRAFT flew over the mall, he probably had some sort of AVIATION thing going on in his mind. As he watched the FLY OVERS, he surely must have had AIRPORTS, AIRPLANES, AVIATION, AVIATORS, and FLYING in mind when he committed the grievous error of mentioning the Continental Army and airports in the same sentence.

Kind of like Trump saying airport rather than seaport. Except the God-King of the Liberals (PRAISE HIM!) gets an automatic pass and Trump gets pilloried.

He obviously meant seaports. Mistakes happen when tired people read off teleprompters. Get over it.

Did Obama ever say that he campaigned in 57 states? Or, is that a completely false allegation?

No, he really said it. Then he backtracked and tried to say he was talking about the 50 states plus Puerto Rico, us virgin islands, and other us territories.......

He is constantly telling lies deliberately, some for gain, some due to stupidity (like the Revolution era airports) and some that nobody knows why, Trump's claim that his father, Fred Trump, was born in Germany. Anything that isn't true is a lie. Do I think that he knew it was a lie when he told it, sadly, yes, but in his defense, I am sure he didn't see the harm in making up stupid stories because as far as he knew, it could have been true. To say he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed is a massive understatement. To say he is the dullest tool in the shed, that in many cases is very likely true.

Well if he tells a lie often enough it becomes true to him..Much like any pathological liar.. or should we give him a break and say he's grossly misinformed..I hate calling folks a liar just because they don't have the brain power to think for themselves so they make shit up or follow the party line as gospel and no other truth will do
