My great,great-grandfather came here from Ireland in 1859. He and his wife who met on the boat, settled on Lake George, NY. Not finding any work to speak of he joined the Union Army in late 1860. Now please someone explain to me why I would have to pay for what the South had done!!

Actually, there have been many more white slaves through history than blacks.
Even in America, at one point over 300,000 white slaves were shipped here from Europe.

Well a slave was a slave. If only African decendents get the reparations money then it discriminates against all the decendents of other races who had been slaves.

A large part of my upbringing was in my grandparents' house.
Back when I was a teenager, any time I criticized the government, my grandfather, Ukrainian, would say, "You go where I come from for two weeks, mister, you'll come back here and kiss the ground."
He and my grandmother (Polish) forbade anyone (relatives, friends from the old country, et al) to speak anything but English under their roof ("We are Americans in this house, we speak English").
They were Democrats, though they generally voted the candidate, not the party... They passed away at the end of the 1990s, about eight months apart, after 63 years of marriage.
It might have been a blessing, because if they had seen the way the Democrats morphed far left after Obama took office, it would have broken their hearts.

A lot of "affirmative" action was a bad vote-chasing scam, such as the education part.
In her book An Unlikely Conservative, Linda Chavez writes about her time teaching affirmative action students.
One of the scams begins with the fact that the Democrat run education system graduates students from mostly black high schools with way below grade level qualifications, then knowing fully well these kids don't have the basic education they'll need to make it through college level courses, they get them into colleges with the full knowledge that they'll never make it through their sophomore year.
Chavez writes about the unruly "students" she was supposed to teach in affirmative action programs who couldn't care less about learning anything who simply turned the classroom into an extension of the projects, skating on the taxpayers'wasted money.
When she saw all the bullshit first hand and realized what was going on, it became a major reason she went from being a "liberal" to being a conservative.
