A Texas tragedy. Whataburger has been sold to a Chicago company.
Whataburger, a burger chain in Texas known for their delicious, artery clogging grease burgers has been sold to a Chicago company.
Texans are up in arms as bad as we were during the Blue Bell ice cream crisis.
This is bad!
There is no where here where you can go to get a double green chili cheeseburger, large chocolate shake, and large order of fries with Whataburger spicy ketchup at 3:00 am!!
What a burger is our new Alamo, and if Illinois defeats us, Illinois will be our new San Jacinto!!
Just sayin.....nobody here trusts anything from that state.
We don't eat there often, but that will be our dinner tomorrow night!!

With all of the taxes that Pritzker is piling on us in Illinois I am surprised that anybody in Illinois can buy anything.

Folks here are really wound up about this. Lol!
They do have a good burger, but they're slow in making it. But.....it's gooood!
When I was working nights, I went to one near work, and ordered exactly what I said a few times at about the same hour.
I've even gone by there at 6:00 am, and ordered similar food for lunch on the road.

I agree. We knew we were getting real beef in our burger. Now it'll probably be mystery meet.

I have eaten many a delicious whataburger. Sounds like the Texas owners of whataburger are the unloyal ones---money over patriotism---they must be republicans.

Don't know about their political affiliates, but tar is being boiled, and feathers plucked.

We ate breakfast at Whataburger, a couple of times when there over the winter. Did the chain originate at Alice, Texas? Seems, I recall something to that effect.

No Richard, it was Corpus Cristi.
We rarely eat fast food, but Whataburger is our favorite.

I was just gonna say the same, bahmer
Anybody think the sales will take a hit because of the purchase?
How long will it take before new owners try to make it better?
Dang-- I wonder if they will open a franchise in Oregon. Most of the good places like Arctic circle- Carls junior--and A&W have closed in my town.

Sigh. Did some looking. The Dobson family (Daddy founded the business in 1950) decided to sell a majority share of the business in order to devote more time to a company that is part investment driven, part philanthropy. They've decided to give back (Forbes had them worth $2.6B in 2015 and they sold for around $2B so they'll be fine). Can't be upset with that part of the situation, but a Chicago investment bank? All we can do is pray they know what they have and don't "youknowwhat" it up with an effort to make it more progressive. I'll keep eating there for now (A1 Thick & Hearty...Mmmmmm!) but if they EVER make any political statements that go against Texas values they will find out that even Texans will jettison a loved one for aberrant behavior!

I've been several times when visiting my sister in Hughs Springs I think it was in Marshal Texas? Not real sure and your spot on it was the best hamburger almost too big to finish(REALLY GOOD)
