"Pay us first if you want to feed the hungry"

New regulations in Birmingham, Ala., are reportedly making it increasingly difficult for churches to feed the homeless.

Consider Pastor Rick Wood of The Lords House of Prayer, a church in Oneonta, Ala., who claims police recently stopped him along with other Christians from feeding the poor in an area park, because they didn’t have a permit, WBMA-TV reported.

Wood said that he was told he’d need permission from the health department with official status as a registered “food truck” if he wanted to feed the homeless in the public park.

That goes without saying, everywhere. The starving have to be protected from food borne illnesses. It is better to starve to death than to die shitting yourself to death from eating tainted food. Wait, wouldn't poison be more merciful? That would eliminate the need for such services immediately. Oh, I see, that would also eliminate the income from permit sales too. Never mind, it was just a thought.

WE ARE BEING REGULATED TO DEATH !! Why didn't they ask the homeless if they felt threatened by unlicensed food distributors ? Good grief ! Do they want the church to distribute cholesterol pills with the meals, just in case ? Who is more at risk here--the food-givers, or the food-takers ?

I was reading through the small town newspaper the other day and to my surprise churches also get surprise health inspections. It was quite an eye opener. I don't think I will be eating out anywhere from now on unless it is a church dinner. They were they only ones with good ratings. Sorry, a bit off topic but just reminded me of reading that.
