I have never served in the military as I am female and went into nursing. However, my father and step-father were military retirees. I don't have a problem with someone who is simply gay serving. I do have a problem with transgenders serving. Being transgender means you're on hormones, which affect mood and performance, not compatible with military acute readiness. If you're wanting to transition and have the military, it takes hundreds of thousands of dollars to do this, which includes pre-operative hormonal therapy, a number of surgeries and post op hormonal therapy. Again, out of commission and useless for battle. And lastly, a female transitioning to be a male will very likely not be able to compete physically with her male counterparts. Also, there's a VERY HIGH suicide rate among transgenders. The military budget is more appropriately spent defending us and not on this idiocy.
