I was hoping that this dragonfly on the tip of my rod would bring me luck.
Not happening.
The river is way up from the recent storms and the fish are dealing with it by ignoring the wonderful baits I have presented.
This is in a little park off of loop 1604, southeast of San Antonio.
It's worth a stop if you're in this area.
When the water gets back to normal, you can come down here and snag some lunker bluegills in this little spot.

So's Natural Bridge Caverns.
There is much to see in the greater Central Texas/Hill Country area. Enjoy as many sites as possible.
Bandera is beautiful as is Stillhouse Hollow Lake near Belton and the Vanishing River Cruise near Burnet with some pretty good fishing for croppie in Lake Buchanan, and there are bald eagles to see there. The central Texas hill country is beautiful, especially during bluebonnet season. Monarch butterflies should be migrating through there right now.

What a painting that would be! I hope the water level remains high.

We spent last weekend in Fredericksburg and drove through the area you describe. I had no idea that Lake Buchanan existed! Beautiful country!
Central Texas I beautiful, especially in the spring. One of my favorite drives is going out hwy 1429 from I-35 all the way to Marble Falls, then either north to Burnet or south to Buda. There are all sorts of places to stop and eat or go in to buy arts and crafts and if you're into water sports, there are a number of really large lakes around the area. Also, there's a lot of live music, which the Austin area is famous for. I lived in Central Texas from '68 through 2017.

OMG! Munchie attack!

San Antonio is a great city to visit, Mike. But if'n we had known each other then, I would'a taken you to Lockhart, northeast of the Alamo City. Lockhart is famous as the BBQ Capital of Texas. Any one of the following: Black's, Smitty's or Kreuz's would'a sufficed for fine dining of our State Food.
Since retiring, unfortunately, it's been too long since I've been to any of 'em. I don't need to drive 200 miles to enjoy fine Texas BBQ. You'd be hard-pressed to visit any area of Texas that doesn't offer first-rate selections of slow-cooked brisket, pork, sausage, etc.
