No prison time for woman who tried to drown newborn in McDonald’s toilet

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — A 27-year-old Northern California woman won’t serve any time in prison for holding her newborn baby facedown in a toilet moments after giving birth at a McDonald’s restaurant restroom more than a year and a half ago, prosecutors said.

On Friday, San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Garratt placed Sarah Jane Lockner on four years of supervised probation. Lockner was also ordered to complete parenting classes.

Lockner was originally charged with attempted murder, but she pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of felony child endangerment on Jan. 14 after Garratt said she would consider imposing a sentence lighter than the four years she had previously offered.

According to prosecutors, Lockner gave birth to a baby boy while working as a cashier at the McDonald’s in Redwood City on Sept. 4, 2017.

Lockner went to the restroom several times with complaints of stomach pain. During one trip, a co-worker noticed blood on the floor, which Lockner reportedly dismissed as her having a “heavy period.”

A second co-worker who went to check on Locker during another visit looked over the stall and saw a newborn facedown in the toilet, with Lockner’s hand on his back, prosecutors said.

As the co-worker stepped down, she told investigators she heard the toilet flush.

Lockner reportedly told the co-worker not to call police, but the co-worker did anyway, and responding officers found the baby boy not breathing and without a pulse.

He was taken to a hospital and placed in a medically induced coma but has since recovered.

In an interview earlier this year, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said the child was living with his father’s aunt and meeting all his milestones.

The bathroom birth was the second for Lockner, who delivered a baby at home about five years ago, according to prosecutors.

That’s amusing! But why wouldn’t she just get a free abortion? What she did was no worse than the many physicians who have sworn an oath to save life turn to abortion.
They are far worse. She’s a criminal but they should be, too.

Yes, she should be spayed, but neutering her boyfriend of the moment would not be effective. She should also do time, perhaps working in a slaughter house, killing cows so we can eat them. Maybe that would satisfy her destructive urges without endangering the life of human babies.

What if she enjoys killing cattle? Make her scrub men's bathrooms with a small toothbrush. No one could get any enjoyment from that.

Doesn't matter if she enjoys killing cattle. The job needs to be done so they can be available in your supermarket, so sentence her to doing the job every day and sleeping in her cell every night for a year. One of the jobs I did YEARS ago was cleanup at the Chicago stock yards, not the slaughter but the cleanup. It was a horrible job, but the only place at that time that would hire a gimp, so it was better than nothing. Lasted 4 months, couldn't stand the other people who worked there, I have seen slugs with more brains and more consideration for life.

Little children have the fewest rights of any American. Yet, we strive to give "Special Class" status to groups like disabled , homeless, muslims, LGTB, women, and label it a hate crime whenever one of these "SPECIAL" people are assaulted or murdered. But adults murder children and suffer few, if any, consequences for that terrible action. It even works the opposite when a child kills his/her parent, nothing special for that criminal.

I left home the day I graduated from high school, and was the better for that. Yes, I had a lot of difficult jobs, low pay, hard work, but from each I learned a lot.The first thing I learned that being a cripple(I was born with scoliosis, and required special shoes just to walk and was always in pain. My father referred to me as "the gimp" never by name. He spent his time with my brother, pushing and demanding and insulting him because he wasn't good enough. Searching for a man who loved him, my brother became the victim of two homosexual men who molested him for several years. My father found out and blamed my brother, whose life became one of drugs, alcohol and "affairs with men" So I got the better deal, learned how to live on my own, and then with the emotional support of SWMBO and her blessed family. Sometimes what seems like hell is only the gateway to the gifts of heaven.
