Indictment against Assange.... it was not what we thought
The indictment, unsealed last week, revealed Assange had not been charged in connection with Russian interference in the election nor had he been charged for publishing government secrets contained in the documents leaked by Manning almost a decade ago. Instead, prosecutors charged him with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion by agreeing to help Manning crack a password that would have given him access to a classified military network.
FBI special agent Megan Brown wrote in the 26-page affidavit filed in December 2017 Assange and Manning allegedly tried to gain access to the Pentagon network, but “it remains unknown whether Manning and Assange were successful in cracking the password.”

Why the drama and the hiding in a consulate for that? Makes one wonder....

...so what was the point in dragging him into court...just to tell him to never do that again and hope he would confess. LOL

I am not sure what Mueller's team had in mind, perhaps someone thought it could shed some light on where he got Clinton's emails and if he has the 30,000 missing documents. There was a rumor, emphasis on rumor, that someone in her camp provided her documents to him. Regardless, if he is convicted of this crime he faces 5 years in prison.
