OTOH, we have spectacular deserts, beaches, snow-capped mountains, millennia-old giant redwood forests, and the 5th largest economy IN THE WORLD. Plus after the heavy rains we've had, the drought is over and the interior valleys are covered with the most unbelievable display of wildflowers we've had in decades, causing major traffic problems with all the city people coming to walk through the vast acres of blindingly colorful wildflowers.

It's a beautiful state with a lot of nutt cases living there. But for that and the growing areas of southern CA, CA would be the biggest nutt house in the world.
I found it pretty funny when I bought water at the San Diego Zoo last year. It was in a carton. I asked about it and the guy got all gruff and mad saying "It's for the environment, Man!!" I laughed as I handed him the plastic cap from the carton. LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
