Given the choice between Trump and Clinton, he was by far the lesser of two evils. I'm quite aware of skeletons in his closet and sometimes he does prevaricate and exaggerate. He does have a history of non-marital relationships, abuse of some women and 6 bankruptcies. His dubious past is often rubbed in my face, by friends and the news. I do have an I.Q. slightly higher than a rock. I get it.
Still, given the choice between Ms. Clinton and president Trump, I would still choose to vote for Trump. He is flawed, by he can't begin to compare with Ms. Clinton for being completely evil.
Also, he has been good for the economy and wants to secure the border. I can tell you a lot about illegal immigrants from my experiences of having worked at Bexar County Hospital for some years as a registered nurse and having been in a wreck with one (He ran into my car from behind, had no green card, no insurance and no driver's license). If I had rear-ended anyone with his non-credentials, I would have been jailed. He wasn't even given a citation. I guess this could be a topic for another discussion.
I do not worship Pres. Trump, but I'm very thankful he won the election and continue to support him through prayer, by talking to others who disagree and by not making any one else's life miserable via stupid verbal (or physical) assaults.
Those of you who hail the 'Resistance,' might take a step back and reassess where we'd be had Clinton won. Just sayin',

While Hillary would not be my first choice for president perhaps and I too have used "the lesser of two evils" argument concerning them but when I did, I reversed the order, what real "evils" has she done? You say you were aware of Trump's "evils", what "evils" would you list for Hillary? I ask that you leave conspiracy theory out of any such list of course.

Okay, I said it appeared to stretch the truth. Did not say that you lied. What about the rest I said?

Nothing needed to be stretched. He rear-ended my car at a stop sign. It was kind of funny that when I got out of my car and walked back to see the damage, he immediately (in Mexican Spanish) told me he didn't speak English to try to weasel out of talking to me. La problema with that is I speak fairly bueno Espanol. It was a slow-motion impact and my car only ended up with about $1300 worth of damage.
Regarding Trump, everything you said about him in New York I've heard before (and believe). He was not my first, second or fifth choice in the field of Republicans. I gagged when I actually voted for him, or more accurately, voted against Clinton. I know a lot of people who did the same.
The good news is he has kept his word to appoint strict Constitutional judges to the bench and is trying to get the wall built. Those are two BIG pluses for me. And he didn't cave in to Kim Jung Un; he walked away. So I actually do feel a little bit better about him than originally. For these reasons, I can cut a little mercy in his direction. Hope springs eternal. I have hope.

I respect what you have to say and your opinion of Trump. Thank you for working through this discussion. Too often a disagreement like ours would not end nicely. But you kept it civil and decent. Well done, a high accolade for OPP. Looking forward to more civilized conversation with you.

Iliamna, you have a very good assessment of President Trump. One that is very close to my own. We have, in our family, some of the TDS affected ones. It has been very difficult to hold back in an effort to sustain peace in the family. In fact, a few weeks ago in a group e-mail, I made the mistake of mentioning that I was going to watch a recording of the SOTU address since I had missed it live. That set off a firestorm by a few because I had apparently offended them by even the mention of something that they despised. I have learned, I think, to suppress some of my political views in the interest of family unity. Libs are very difficult to deal with.

I live with a sister (and her husband) who has TDS syndrome. But we love each other far more than we despise the other's politics. We're both Christians and a soft answer can turn away a lot of wrath. Libs are also difficult to LIVE with. But she keeps me on my toes and we've both learned from each other.

I've been noticing a shift, a big shift. We had a friend over for dinner this weekend, not one thing said about Trump, we did discuss healthcare and she seemed to agree that it's headed the wrong way and needs a big fix. A couple of weeks ago she was over for dinner and I asked how she felt about her president now...

She rolled her eyes and said "Oh God, what a Frigging idiot", we left the subject alone so as not to be rubbing salt in the wounds.

My neighbor, same thing, his comment was "what a frigging idiot, I just wish he would stop tweeting such idiotic things". He stopped wearing a MAGA hat a long time ago, said his wife wanted him to throw it away.

My point is that the people I know who will acknowledge Trump is an idiot will still defend certain things, they are still basically ignorant to the bone about political issues.

I have friends on both sides of the imaginary parties where mixed opinions flourish yet most admit Trump has done well trying to make our country better.. When there is discourse, its not over what is doing for our country but rather his personality traits..

Guess we can’t have everything since none of us are perfect..

I Usually support President Trump in how he handles situations. The month of February was difficult here in the Midwest due to more snow than in decades(I will be moving to Florida soon...) But I did see how the media tries to make a something out of nothing...A mountain out of a molehill.

Trump is not an idiot and if your assessment of him is over negotiations with N. Korea, if he did something wrong, he will learn. Treating our enemies as he did was different than any other leader in the past. The US has never been friendly with that area of the world and maybe his naivety will serve him well or just be a learning experience.

The media is especially hard on this president but only because his past career deals with them so intensely. Trump is actually outperforming any president that I have seen (I was born in 1960 and still remember where I was when Kennedy was shot) Since then the media has become increasing dishonest and Trump's "fake-news" should straighten out reporting. Ideally, opinion will get lesser impact,,

Another self aggrandizing lie from you. Sorry woodglue, but I don't believe you have any "friends" at all. I just can't imagine what kind of person would embrace a self centered, self righteous burro like yourself, and call you "friend".
You are not likeable, and the only useful purpose you serve is as a practice tennis ball.

I'm thankful that God gave man the ingenuity to invent the rubber band that keeps you coming back for another swat. Otherwise, you would serve no purpose on this planet.

Nice return Archie. That one caught him right in his rusty truth socket, as he was bowing to the spectators.

Your post should have started with, "Once upon a time...."
As far a believability on a scale of 1 -100, I give it a zero!
Hey woodie, give it up. As soon as savvy readers here on OPP see your name as authoring a subject we know what to expect. Relentless, unceasing, Trump bashing!
We get it. You hate all things Trump and are gonna shout it from the rooftops.
But you're only one vote. And you're not convincing any undecided readers here with your foaming-at-the-mouth vitriol.
