I understand what your saying and history does repeat itself, we just don’t need to help get there so soon...

Your 200 year cycle is within past history recording but for Rome...Today its a matter of Imperislism over survival.. Take for instance the fact Empires do not survive for long if they cannot establish and sustain local consent and if they allow more powerful coalitions of rival empires (Russia~ US~ Japan) to unite against them... The crucial question is whether or not today’s global powers behave in a different way than their imperial forebears?? Do they in your opinion??

A little opinion that I wind up pondering much when thinking WTH is going on???
Bear with me just a moment please and consider ..

Publicly, the leaders of the American and Chinese republics deny that they harbor imperial designs.... Right?? Both states are the product of revolutions and have long traditions of anti-imperialism. So it would seem...Yet there are moments when the shield slips. Dick Cheney’s 2003 Christmas card asked, "And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?" Strange message ?? If you think about it His aid, was God and suggestion was of an empire born...In 2004 a senior advisor to President Bush confided to a journalist “We’re an empire now and when we act, we create our own reality.… We’re history’s actors." Similar thoughts may cross the minds of China’s leaders. Even if they do not, it is still perfectly possible for a republic to behave like an empire in practice, while remaining in denial about its loss of republican virtue... Is this where we are headed or becoming I should say...

“The “American empire” is young by historical standards. Its continental expansion in the 19th century was unabashedly imperialistic”. Think about the history of records etc.. “Yet the comparative ease with which sparsely settled territory was absorbed into the original federal structure militated against the development of an authentically imperial mentality and put minimal strain on the political institutions of the republic. “~ I agree..

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, there is the American attention deficit. Past empires had little difficulty in sustaining public support for protracted conflicts. The United States, by contrast, has become markedly worse at this. We constantly judge our leaders openly and reject much of what they are or are not doing.. we have grown intolerant to their lies, constant spew of hate using racism, bigotry, etc to turn us on our fellow citizen to divert their terrible criminal minds of waste!!!

238 years old with many changes where do we define the end in this constant changing endeavor of our nation?? And what is to follow in its footsteps, if anything??
Have we not already wiped out former actions moving on in growth and wisdom or have we condemned ourselves to ruin like Rome??

Sorry just thoughts~~

FREE LUNCH!

Currently, over 75% of applications for military service are rejected for reasons of health and/or education. The cure? Let’s finance patients and students exactly as we finance soldiers: within the defense budget (where costs vanish!), with enough accountants, auditors, and sheriffs to fight waste, fraud, and abuse. (Yes! American families should still be able to buy their own health care and education in a totally free market, independently of any government program!)

For our defense, we need totally free healthcare for all and expense-paid education up to PhD! Cost? Other nations have government-financed healthcare and education with lower costs than those now saddled upon our young and old. Congress can also afford our needs! It fears only inflation, well-controlled by the Fed’s interest rate and by federal income tax. Increased federal taxes matter much less than our annual after-tax savings, also-called “deficit spending”, that pay for our imported goods and for our annual net domestic savings: money in the bank!

Yes! After-tax savings do indeed bring prosperity! World War II spending gave us our suburbs and 30 years of prosperity. Spending on the Marshall Plan, Korean War, Cold War, NASA, nuclear energy, Vietnam, etc., also contributed to post-war prosperity. Ask your grandmother!

Federal debt? As explained* by Ben S. Bernanke, Princeton economist and former Fed Chair, with Congress’ OK, the Fed can buy the federal debt directly from the Treasury! No problem!

With Social Security numbers identifying individuals, computers would manage everything with minimum personnel. Congress would negotiate prices and fees for all goods and services, pay everyone their just worth, and never ever send a bill for service to a patient or to a student!

Yes, there will be growing pains! Education will soon have all the necessary resources but healthcare will suffer scarcities, especially dentists, whom many of our poor have never seen. And there will not be enough rural hospitals and doctors. Until the system is fully grown, such scarcity will require a process of triage to set priorities. That is why “Free Lunch” healthcare would have to be implemented gradually, waiting for “Free Lunch” education’s new helpers!

Let’s start now by extending our Medicare to children up to age 19 and to students up to age 30. With their good health, we need only augment the current system. Annually, increase the entry age by two years (age 19 to age 21) and decrease the entry age by two years (age 67 to age 65). When possible, annually increase/decrease by three or more years, until EVERYONE has current Medicare. Then, dump the health insurance industry and declare all healthcare and education, with neighborhood nurseries, day-care, and Pre-K, to be totally free, cradle to grave!

Within ten years or so, if we can educate and build like China, there may be enough medical resources for slack to appear. By then, there should also be no more skilled labor shortages. And much of our huge prison population could and should be trained to care for sick and old.

Totally free healthcare for all and totally free education at all levels, with just enough taxation to prevent harmful inflation, will increase deficit spending (after-tax savings!) and prosperity! Dump all the deficit hawks! Elect Social Democrats! Make America REALLY Great and Totally Free!

You leave out one additional disqualification for military, one incidentally that disqualified Obama -the moral qualification. That includes drug use and police records.

Of course I agree. Makes since to me. I do think GOD will punish America for worshipping idols and sacrificing children. When God gets around to us, we are in trouble.

Shhhhh~ A secret~~~ He already follows me around.: I feel his wrath when deserved and I know His agaping love above all things....

We (those) whom do not know Him will certainly be in trouble~~

But; Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool....

Forgive and we are forgiven too..

I would add universal military (or comparable) training with no exceptions for attending college, religion missions, bone spurs, anti-war etc. Everyone who is mentally capable contributes in some meaningful way. Rather Spartanish but worth the price of living in a free society.
