OMG, The Poor Child Has Ring Worm! We Must Have Socialized Medicine!


OMG, the poor child has ring worm. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez agonized over poor children in Alabama suffering from ring worm. Thus, we must have Medicare for all.

Those poor, poor children are suffering from...from... from... worms? And going untreated? Horrors!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worms? In this day & age? Is ringworm anything like pin worms? Hook worms? Or any of those other worms that infest many tropical people, some of which can actually go to the brain and be fatal? Dear God, we must do something about this.

No. Ring worm isn’t even a worm at all. It’s a skin fungus that starts as a small point and grows larger, into a circle. Its edges are raised & often red, distinguishing it from the skin in the center which looks like normal skin. It's shaped like a ring, hence its name.

If it grows on the feet, it’s called athlete’s foot. It will often grow in the folds near the groin where it’s called jock itch. The technical terms are tinea pedis and tinea crurum, respectively, As tinea crurum, it also often grows under pendulous breasts.

The treatment consists in spraying the lesions with any of the dozens or lotions, ointments, creams and powders that you can find in any pharmacy’s aisles. You apply it till it’s gone for at least two weeks. Tinactin powder costs all of nine dollars for a full treatment.

The toughest to treat is tinea unguium when it involves the toenails but it can involve finger nails. Toe treatment can take four to six months because a full healthy nail must grow out and toenails grow very slowly.

AOC regards this as justifying a socialized medical system.

ring worm i so easy to treat and so common in humans and animals. As the article pointed out, most treatments are under ten dollars, about the cost of two big big meals, the staple for "poor people"

Her point is pretty clear, millions of children in our nation live in poverty without adequate medical care. Her suggestion is Medicare for all, not socialized medicine but a hybrid. Private medical services covered by a single payer. Efficient because it eliminates insurance company's skimming billions that would go to care. Other nations have far less expensive health care systems than ours that deliver better results.

LET’S PREPARE OUR DEFENSE WITH A MAXIMUM EFFORT !!

A nation can be in only one of three possible states of affairs.

First, a nation can be at war, in an existential struggle, depending upon its infrastructure.

To survive such an embattled state of affairs, a nation must continually prepare its defense.

Next, a nation can prepare defense with a maximum effort by using all of its idle resources to increase and to improve its infrastructure and its most important resource, its people, whose health and education are essential and can be improved most surely by providing free healthcare for all and free, expense-paid education for all. Such preparation of defense needs maximum Congressional spending, which needs a maximum effort to prevent inflation, which needs adequate taxation of disposable income and no taxation of non-disposable income, which needs adequate and steeply progressive federal income and estate tax rates.

Such a provident nation would be well-prepared to survive an embattled state of affairs.

Finally, a nation can prepare its defense but WITHOUT a maximum effort to increase and improve its infrastructure, NOT providing free health care for all and free, expense-paid education for all, being more concerned with budget deficits and tax relief for the rich and their heirs while mired in idleness, poverty, trafficking, addiction, crime, and mass incarceration.

Such an improvident nation (ours!) is now ill-prepared to survive an embattled state of affairs.

Citizens opposed to free healthcare and expense-paid education for all, including free trade schools, will vote for inflation due to skilled labor shortages, for military recruiting shortages due to poor health and education, and for medical cost bankruptcies. Votes against maximum Congressional spending will guarantee destructive poverty, decaying infrastructure, and a sub-optimal defense that threatens our survival in an embattled state of affairs.

A provident nation will be not only the most prepared nation but also the most prosperous nation because that nation’s Congressional spending would generate the largest annual federal budget deficit, which is exactly equal to the sum of its annual trade deficit plus its annual domestic net private savings. That sum represents the nation’s consumption of foreign goods plus its private after-tax earnings, a necessary source of investment for growth. Therefore, that sum is directly proportional to the nation’s prosperity, that which trumps all taxes, sustains its social health, and encourages its youth, perhaps the most important element of its defense.

So, preparing our defense with maximum effort is also our best economic policy, as proven by the decades of post-war prosperity created by our huge World War II deficit spending on salaries that were saved as “War Bonds”, eventually cashed in for homes, cars, and kids, creating the prosperous suburbs that since exist all over America. Once more, Kevyn weighs in with his distortions. In fact, there are very few instances of people not being able to obtain adequate care.

I have seen numerous cases where the mother states she can't afford medical care for her children while she sports studded finger nails. Then there are the cases of ramshackle homes with expensive cars in the driveway and full service internet. The women & men wear fancy clothes.

Insurance companies skimming billions that should go to medical care? How about government's efficiency at about 28%?

You think that other countries have less expensive systems that perform better? Go and live under one. The waiting time for an elective (non-emergency) gall bladder surgery, last time I checked, was eight months. Of course, emergencies always receive priority care but then wait long enough for an elective surgery and it could become an emergency.

By the way. What's your occupation, if you work? Socialize it first. See how you like it.
