With all that has occurred this week it seems that the term 'Fake News' has once again grown in stature...
With members of both sides constantly bantering the term around one begins to wonder what exactly is meant by the term 'Fake News'...
I ask all members of the OPP to kindly provide their personal definitions... Perhaps, with a greater understanding of one another's positions, a general consensus could be reached as to what constitutes 'Fake News' ...

I dunno. To me, news should be factual and unbiased, as we were taught in journalism 101 back in the day. So I guess fake news would be news that is NOT factual or unbiased, what used to be called "yellow journalism".
“fake news” in English. fake news noun [ U ] uk /ˌfeɪk ˈnjuːz/ /ˌfeɪk ˈnuːz/. . › false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke: There is concern about the power of fake news to affect election results.
---------------
Fake news is an inaccurate, sometimes sensationalistic report that is created to gain attention, mislead, deceive or damage a reputation. Unlike misinformation, which is inaccurate because a reporter has confused facts, fake news is created with the intent to manipulate someone or something.

Can we agree on these two definitions?
I.E. - "BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate," said Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller's office.

My friend.....
What happened to our New Year truce?
Has the olive branch been trod upon so soon?
Nay... Your response to my post is a declaration of friendship...
Propaganda may be true... In fact it is more effective that way

I think the key element here is "the intent to deceive or manipulate". Someone can be wrong about the facts, but when you intentionally manipulate, lie, or deceive, that to me is the essence of fake news.
