OK, so much for Democratic Bi-Partianship in trying to work out a solution to the government shutdown. Pelosi and Schumer think they have the winning hand here, and that the public will not see them as the prime motivating factor in this government shutdown. Let's hope the American public wakes up and puts their feet to the fire!

"Congressional Democrats on Tuesday rejected President Trump's invitation to a lunch meeting at the White House to discuss border security, in the latest sign that both sides of the government shutdown standoff remain entrenched in their positions with no compromise in sight.

A senior administration official said the president had invited Democrats to join his lunch with members of Congress in the Roosevelt Room shortly after noon. But moments before the session, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that nobody took them up on the offer.

Hal Turner Commentary
The two sides are clear when this turns into an actual fight: On one side is our President trying to protect America and on the other side are the Democrats leaving the border open to every piece of human filth that wants to come here.

NO DEMOCRAT IS INNOCENT. NONE OF THEM!

Remember that when it comes time to deal with the guilty." https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/en/news-page/news-nation/democrats-boycott-border-security-meeting-at-white-house

The democrats own this shut-down, it's all their fault. They want no compromise, and aren't even willing to discuss anything. Typical of the sneaky, lying, ignorant, wacko leftist politicians.

This part didn't give you pause to consider that the source MIGHT be biased? I will look to see if I can find a less biased source of the same information.

Use some common sense. Was that story hard to believe? Face it your side is wrong on this issue.

All were invited, only repugs showed. Pelosi had "given her permission" for them to go but they chose not to, claiming they would only talk about border security after the gov was re-opened.

In neither article with posted links in this topic thread does it state that Pelosi told them NOT to attend. In the one article, it states that she told them they can go if they wish, the other article doesn't say anything about her giving or refusing permission for them to go.

If you have a source that says otherwise, I would like to read it, please post a link.

It doesn't matter either way. She wasn't going and they could have if they had wanted to. Bunch of chicken $hits.

Thank you for the link though it too states that Pelosi gave her blessings to attend the meeting.

Quote from the article you linked here:

"House of Representatives speaker Ms Pelosi gave her blessing for Democrats to attend the lunch meeting if they wished. However, leadership did press upon invited members to consider whether the talks would be productive or simply amount to a photo opportunity for the president."

Additionally, this article points out that only nine republican house members agreed to attend.

Another quote from same article:

"White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said instead of a bipartisan lunch, nine House Republicans would attend. She added that the president “looks forward to having a working lunch with House Republicans to solve the border crisis and reopen the government”. "

It would appear that BOTH sides aren't fully ready to come to the table (both democrat AND republican house members) to end this shutdown, though at least nine republicans made the effort whereas none of the democrats have.

With 199 republicans, 235 democrats, 0 independents and only 1 vacant seat, it doesn't show much republican support for this bipartisan meeting either with only 9 republicans planning to attend.*
