Non-college educated white voters have abandoned Donald Trump as he continues to hold the government hostage over his demand for a vanity wall on the southern U.S. border.
According to a new CNN survey released Sunday, Trump’s approval rating is underwater among white voters without college degrees – one of his strongest areas of support during the 2016 campaign – for the first time since February 2018.
Forty-seven percent of these voters disapprove of the job he is doing, while just 45 percent think he’s doing a fine job.

More stunning, according to CNN, is that this group of voters believes by a 45-39 margin that Trump – not Democrats – is responsible for the government shutdown.


Most Americans – still – don’t want a border wall
If you’re going to shut down the government in order to advance a policy goal, you should probably pick something the American people support. Trump hasn’t done that.
According to the CNN poll, voters – by a 17-point margin – oppose the construction of a wall on the southern border.
