Well, the cat is out of the bag on one of the Democrats’ talking points about the border wall.

And it was a Democrat who spilled the beans on their hypocrisy.

The government shutdown over the border wall funding battle has seen a number of excuses from Democrats. One, however, has been cost for the wall. When Kentucky’s Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth appeared on The Hill’s “Rising” on Friday, he admitted the amount requested is chump change compared to other amounts the Democrats have been willing to pay for border security.

Oopsie! Since he seemed to fumble his way through the interview, can we trust what he said about that? Yes, we can!

The Daily Wire reported that there has been more than one time in the past when the Democrats approved higher amounts of funding for border security.

In 2006 that amount was $50 billion over a period of 25 years. It was approved by 26 Senate Democrats.

The Boston Globe reported that the funds were to cover a secure barrier along the southern border. Then-Sens. Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama all voted for the the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

The Globe goes on to note that Obama praised the bill at the time, saying, “The bill before us will certainly do some good.”

He also spoke of how it would create “better fences and better security along our borders.”....

Back peddling democrats. They don't care about the wall or the dreamers. All they care about is obstructing anything Trump wants no matter who it hurts.

Agreed I am so glad that I am on the down hill side of life because of what I fear is going to happen to my once great nation. Trump comes along and is doing something great for America and these asshats what to destroy it.

I read Theissen all the time and here, as usual, I agree with most everything he wrote except that I don't consider this to be "Trump's Shutdown."

Pelosi and Schumer knew this was going to happen ahead of time, yet they allowed their "obstruct the president at all costs" political mandate to supercede their responsibility to the American people, as always.

The Dems don't want to deal. They just want to obstruct.

Both sides of a negotiation have to come to the table ready to deal. Pelosi and Schumer only came with "our way or the highway."

President Trump got up and walked out because he runs things like the businessman he is, and they were wasting his time.

End of story.

No...the end of the story is that dems passed the same exact bill the senate already passed...

This is square in the senate's court and McConnell needs to be held accountable for upholding the constitution and democracy. He needs to take the vote and let the chips fall where they will...

Each senator was voted in to represent the people of their state, McConnell has an obligation to the senate and the people of this country to let them speak through their senators.

Republican and Independent senators do speak for their constituencies, whereas Democrats speak only for their party.

Why do you think the Republicans are split on so many issues while the Democrats march in lockstep, doing as they're told?
